Donna - Yes, I'd be interested in trying to trace possible kinship with your husband's grandfather, William Pyritz (d. 1970s). (I delayed response until I could compare memories with my brother, Robert C. Pyritz.) My specific background:
My father, Robert W. Pyritz (1903-1982) was a son of William Pyritz (b. 1871 in Germany, m. 1899 in Chicago to Louise Schwemm). They moved to Indianapolis c. 1904. William d. 1906. His widow remarried in 1912 to her brother-in-law August Pyritz (1869-1926), who was by then a widower (first wife Anna Fuhrman) also living in Indpls.
We recall that our father mentioned a first cousin (now deceased) named Ted Pyritz in Indpls. We're fairly certain that Ted was not a son of August (and, of course, not of William), and that therefore August and William must have had another brother.
We also know that August and William (and Louise Schwemm) were from the south side of Chicago. We're not certain whether A. W. came to America as children with their parents or in the 1890s on their own. So far we have found no record of either their parentage or immigration.
As you see, we have very little pre-1900 data on the Pyritz side of our family. Any help would be very welcome!
