Looking for info on Pyrcz family from the village of Rogoznica near Rzeszow Poland, in the Podkarpackie region. Also related to the Rusin and Firlej families from the same village.

I have Kmiotek that is from your town but he married a Rusin from Gron (Nowy Targ -Malopolska) What do you think?
|
It is hard to say. I have not heard the Kmiotek name before, but they probably knew my ancestors as Rogoznica was a very small village. It is not too far from Nowy Targ, but in the research I have done since making that post, it seems that Rusin is quite a common name in those regions. I have also found various spellings of the name associated with my ancestors, such as Ruszyn. I have not yet been able to trace anyone from my Rusin family to anywhere besides the Rogoznica in Malopolska.

Hi! I have a Charitina Pyrcz on my family tree and am wondering if she is related to your family. I don't have much more than her name. She married a Philip Koda, probably born in mid-1800's? They were also from Poland. She had at least 4 children (maybe more, not sure): John Koda, Michael Koda (wife Pauline), Stephen Koda (wife Anne), Melania Koda (husband Michael Adamcio). The daughter Melania Koda was born in Swirtone #35 in Poland. I am not sure where Rogoznica is in relation to Swirtone/Kwiaton Poland. I do know that Swirtone & Kwiaton are not far. The other family members (Melania Koda's husband's family the Adamcio's) were from Kwiaton, Maloposkie, Poland.
Thank you! Tamara
Also, heard that Rusin family is somehow related to us but not sure. This is my husband's family tree. Our last name was changed to Adams from Adamcio in 1944.

Hi Tamara, Glad that you wrote. I checked the location of Swirtone and found that it is close to the Slovak border and south of my grandparents village. Swirtone is about 65 miles or so away from Rogoznica. I have never found a Charitina in my research and to my knowledge my whole Pyrcz family was from the Rzeszow area. Probably not related, but you never know. The name is not overly common so there could be some distant relation. I have also not heard of a Koda in my research. I will let you know if anything turns up on my end. I also discovered that there are an awful lot of Rusins that originated in Malopolska/Galicia and Ukraine which is not so far away. It seems to be a name in that area that is almost as common as Smith or Jones. Hope you have a nice holiday.
Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom, Thanks for your quick response! I really wish the grandparents were still alive so I could ask them personally all my questions! Was really hoping this was a lead...Oh well, keep me in mind if you ever come across the name. Saw there were quite a few Public Family Trees with the name Pyrcz. Maybe it is a very distant relative. I did not realize Rusin was a common name, interesting. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Tamara
