Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
hi yes we have the same line up to benjamin 1766 and hannah then i go through thomas and you through william i have also just found out that my grandma rose was named after her grandmother-- i dont recall her ever mentioning it fred-died under one,and my grandma never mentioned this either--maybe she wasnt told-it would have been edwin and hannahs first born there is only irene still living now and her memory is not too good rose did marry in 1940c to someone called thomas henry wilson --he was not a good person and they divorced when my mum was about 14 this is the only line in my family i have not followed yet a,because there are so many thomas wilsons and b because my mum doesnt really know anything about him except that he remarried and that his sister was called doreen i think the only way i can get any info on him is by going to the register office and getting grandma roses marriage certificate--di you know any website i can get this info from without going to registery office i keep meaning to do it and will have to get round to it soon julie

Hello, think my great grandfather was a Joseph Pyrah, a butcher, not sure of sibling names, but there are Pyrah graves in Birkenshaw church yard, which we were taken to as children, will try to find out more info and get back, thanks Neil

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
My great great grandparents had a mine on Bradford Road between Birkenshaw and East Bierley, he dug the coal and his wife drove the horse cart, quite a formidable couple by the sound of it, not sure of names or dates,

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
Perhaps Joseph Pyrah (1817 - 1886,) a coal dealer. Married twice, to Ruth and Mary, all children had "King" as a forename. Ring any bells?

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
Thanks for this. I have been doing a bit of research and hopefully I am as far back as the mid 18th century. It seems that the "North Bierley" family (my Mother and most recent grandparents lived in Pudsey), but the trail goes back to Wibsey (entries in St Peters Bradford (marriages etc) are duplicates of Wibsey Chapel/Church entries. It took a while for this to sink in! But then I get a bit lost because there are stacks named Thomas and Joseph!! If I am right, and I have printed off so much that I'm getting confused, then Ebeneezer is at the end of my trail. I need to forward track to doublecheck. My head is spinning with all of this, but I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure though how to find sibblings of relatives. Sorry to go on, but there is so much to ask and I'm new to this.
Thanks for your help, you've been brilliant.

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
Sorry to jump in, my Mother and her grandparents and great G's etc lived in the Pudsey are (classed at the time as North Bierley) and I believe were connected to "Birkenshaw". From what I can gather on of the GGG's was involved in coal.
Any help?

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
Need to correct this, Joseph Pyrah was not great grandfather, but a bit further back and not butcher, but a weaver, it's a bit difficult getting information from my mum as she has difficulty talking. Will go to Church at Birkenshaw to check the names and dates on graves in a few weeks.

Re: Pyrah family in Bradford Yorks. area
Recently went to check Pyrah graves in Church yard t St Pauls Birkenshaw, as a child seem to remember 2 graves, but 1 has lost it's head stone, the remaining one is my great grandfather Joseph Stockwell and his wife Sarah Stockwell, daughter of Joseph and Harriet Pyrah. Sarah Stockwell/Pyrah died August 1946 aged 78. Think Joseph Pyrah was a weaver from Batley area, who taught mathematics part time, not sure, but possibly his father was the miner/coal merchant.
