Am trying to determine if my ancestors actually are from Brechin or Coventry, England. Some research says I had an ancestor named Georg, born on 30 Dec 1645. His father was Alexander and his mother was Helin Burn.

Dear May
I am sorry for taken so long to answer your email but I have been on holiday I dont know much about my ancesters
only that my grandfather colin went to Boston on on the 29th January 1923 on the ship S.S Columbia I have been tring to find out about this ship it left from Greenock Scotland on the Clyde but I have been unable to find out anything I understand if you went to America before 1950 you did not have a sopcial security no so maybe that is why I am drawing a blank I have been asking my Aunt Mary who is the only one left of my fathers family if she rememers any thing all that she can remember is that my great grandfather was a Provist in Brechin I am sorry that I could not be any more help to you. but maybe if you get some more information you could let me know as we are bound to be conected as we have such an unusual surname.

Dear Margaret
I was so glad to have recieved your message regarding my grandfather as I thougth that I had hit a brick wall regarding the informationabout my grandfathers family because he went to America in 1923 there are no records of him in America I have been lead to believe that you did not get social security numbers untill much later. So I would be most gratful if you could give me any information at all. I look forward to hearing from you .

In response to your message I do not know if we are of the same family, however, I have all the details of my great grandfather Colin Pyott. and his father Alexander Pyott,b 13th November 1808 who married Christina Dear in Brechin, Angus Scotland 22nd August 1845. They had two children I am aware of Elizabeth Pyott who married a Robert Stott and went to America and Colin born circa 1854. There could have been others pre 1850. I am unsure as to where the name Colin was from but do know of one other family connection Colin Smith Pyott from Glasgow. I do have a vast amount of Pyott data.
Maybe we could find the links by direct emails. Margaret
