I've only started to look around the internet at family tree stuff, but i'm from Luton, Bedfordshire and am the son of Keith Pyne who is the oldest of 3 brothers. People call him Tom and Tony.

I haven't really found out much yet about family beyond that, but they mainly live in Bedford, Bedfordshire and I think some originated in London.

I'll keep looking ......

The Pynes came to England from Aquitaine in France with the court of Henry 2 of England. The family was called Du pin at that time, becoming anglisised to Pyne and Pine. They were knights in the court of the above king and were given land in Devon, near Upton Pyne by King John, the second son of the king. The house, PYNES, still stands though there have been three or four houses built on the same spot since then; it is still called Pynes. The family came originally from Spain and before that from Germany and it is known that they were with Charlemagne when he moved West towards France and Spain. There is a castle which may or may not be standing in the Pyrannees owned by our ancestors, called de Pinhos at that time. They were knights involved with driving the Moors out of Spain and then they settled in the Languedoc region of France before migrating to Aquitaine.

Our family are based in Essex though we come from Pynes in Devon and before that from Dublin in the 18th Century. There is chapel in Duxford, Cambridgeshire which was built by a great grandfather in the 1790s, Benjamin Pyne who came from Ireland and he was a dissenting minister and thus built his own church. There is an imposing house in Duxford called Pynes. The original house, Pynes is in Devon at Upton Pyne on land given to the family by King John son of Henry the second and brother of Richard the First, the Lionheart. We are from a farming family near Chelmsford.

I had no idea our family went that far back.
My mother was a Pyne, her Grandfather came
to Michigan from New Brunswick, Canada in
the 1800's (William Pyne). William's father
was James Pyne from NB. I can't make the
connection between the Pyne's in Canada and
their roots in Ireland or England though.
If you happen to find anything connecting
the two please e-mail me.

I just found this site and until I find more information, I can only say at this time that my father William Henry Pyne and his brother Arthur lived in Cazenovia, New York around the 1920's. I was always told that their family derived from England. Now I'll be on the search for more info. Would like to hear from anyone. (signed) Pat.

My family is from Barnsley, Yorkshire, England. Father Richard Pyne, Mother Wendy (maiden name Dennis). Father's mother Mary Pyne (I believe). My father had seven brothers and sisters. Father's Father died about 1940.

I've just started tracing the family tree.

Mags

What a coincidence. My Father's name is Richard Pyne, the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, who's father died when he was about 5 years old. Our branch of the Pyne family is from Barnsley, Yorkshire. My Mother and Father and I moved the the United States back in 1960. I've just started my search of the Pyne history. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
