Hi Ian

I have recently confirmed my PYMAN conections in Suffolk......full details
below. My ancestors were in the Cockfield area and later into Alpheton and
Sudbury.

There are a number of early PYMANs in Stowupland. I am specifically looking
for a Robert Pyman born around
1723......could he have been from Stowupland??

I would be gratefull
for any info you can provide on the name that might help.

Thanks very much in anticiaption

Carloss..........hence this memo.

Query re Mannings from Melford - can I ask where you got the census information re 1851. I've got a database of the population of Melford and my records say that there are two William Manning in Melford in that census but one is married to a Maria, he married her 1841 in Melford, and the other is a seven year old boy - who does have a sister Sophia. However there is a William who marries a Sophia in 1823, her surname not Pyman, but I didn't find them in the 1851 census. Did I miss something? Lyn B

Mannings - Long Melford

Having traced my family line I found the following info that might be of help to you Lyn:-

Robert Pyman (1749 - 1833) from the village of Cockfield Suffolk married a Sarah Osbourne and one of their children was a Sophia Pyman.

Sophia Pyman (1799 - 1893) married a William Manning (1800 - 1893) who claims in the earlier census that he was born in Alpheton and the latter ones say he was born in Long Melford.

However, The Civil Parish is Alpheton. The Registriction district is Sudbury and the sub registration district is Long Melford.

Sophia and William Manning of Long Melford children were the following :-

Henry Manning born 1821

William Manning born 1823

Elizabeth Betsy Manning born 1831

Sophia Manning born 1833

Allface Manning (this is most likely a spelling error) born 1835

Emma Manning born 1838.

Hope this info is useful to you. If you require any more info please get in touch.

Sarah.

I would be interested in knowing the parentage of Robert Pyman b. About 1723. Also his birth place and details of marriage partner.
He is a 4th GG father of mine.
