I am trying to find information surrounding
the children of George and Elizabeth Pyke.
They are Winkworth, James, George, John, Eliza,
Margarita, Isabella, Mary, and Marion. They
were born after 1809. I have death dates for
Winkworth, John, Margarita, and Isabella. Any
information would be helpful.

I have a Winkworth Allan Pyke in my files
but it appears to be of an earlier generation
than yours. This Pyke family had Halifax, N.S. and
and Quebec connections. Some of Winkworth's
siblings have the same names you mention.
If you wish to check further my Email is

Hello--I'm a great-great-great-granddaughter of Geo. and Eliza, through their son, James Pyke, an Anglican minister. After his wife died, his sister Mary kept house for him. I have one of her books in my possession--a little tome on how to be a virtuous woman. Also have access to a manuscript he wrote in old age in which he recounts his father's grief at Eliza's deathbed..."I shall always remember his empassioned cry, 'Eliza, Eliza!'" Strong stuff.... Have a photo of a portrait of George, as well. There are still some descendants of the Pykes in Hudson, Quebec. If you want copies of any of these artifacts, I can make them for you, but you should give me a few months. All the best.

Susan:

Thank you for your e-mail. I would appreciate
copies of James' manuscript plus the photograph.
I would also like to receive any information on
the descendants of James, and his siblings: George,
Mary and Marion. I don't know if these last
three people were married. If you don't have
this information but know someone who might I
would appreciate receiving their addresses.

Pretty sure Mary was unmarried--that's how she was able to take care of James' 15 children. Happy to get you info, but it'll take time, as I said. To which address should I send materials? (Reply to email address with answer to this if you like.) Are you related, by the way? Best. -Susan

Katherine:

I am working on the Tremain(e) family which has
connections to the Pyke family. I would be
interested in learning what information you
might have on this particular line. The line
I have is an Elizabeth Tremain who married
George Pyke May 19, 1908 and had Winkworth,
James, George, John, Eliza, Margarita, Isabella,
Mary, and Marion. Your assistance would be
appreciated.

Katherine:

Elizabeth (Tremain) Pyke was born in Quebec
City ca. 1783 and married George Pyke
May 19, 1809. They had nine children. She,
her parents, and siblings moved to Nova Scotia
in 1785 where most of the immediate family
remained for about the next fifty or so years.
During the years that she and George were
married they lived in Quebec City.

I hope you are able to help.
