Pyetts from Bantham, England maybe?

Pyetts from Bantham, England maybe?

Surnames: Pyett, Woollard
Hello.
I see the Pyett board is not overflowing with activity, so I thought I'd add my information. Hope it helps! My Pyett relative was Lucienda (Lucy), who married Issac Woollard around 1850 in England. Her parents names were Willam Pyett and Mary (Hunt). I know that Lucy's fourth child (my great grandfather) was born in Bantham, England. Her brothers and sisters were James (never married), Mary (Kettle), and William (married Susan Porter). Her children's names were Charels, Fred, George, Henry and Helen (died in infancy.) My great grandfather's name was Henry (Harry) Woollard and he immigrated to Iowa around 1890.
Let me know if this sounds familiar to any of you. I would love more information!
Heather

Hi - I've just been told by my cousin, John Woollard (Portsmouth UK) about this site and all your information. I too am a great, great granddaughter of Isaac Woollard and Lucy Pyett. Their son, Charles was my great grandfather and his son, Arthur was my grandfather. We have lots of 'stuff' about the Woollard line of the family which goes back with certainty to about 1750 in the Brantham area of Suffolk, and possibly even further but the writing in some of the older registers is difficult to decipher. The information we have reveals a lot about the social conditions of the family, and of course we have lots of memories/family tradtitions. Arthur Woollard died in 1984 but but his sister-in-law is still alive (92) and lives quite close to me. I visited her recently and she is as bright as a button. Would love to be in contact. Am in Maldon(UK)

Hello Alison!
I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I have a new baby (my first) and she has pushed all thoughts of geneology from my mind for the last few months. I would love to correspond. You can write me directly at my email address if you'd like. I wish I had a file to send, but I haven't entered my grandmothers side into my geneology program yet. Maybe this will motivate me. I am very interested in swaping information and family stories!

My name is Steven Robert Pyett of Whyalla, South Australia and I am a first generation Australian born to British parents. My father is from Watford in North London and has lived in this country since 1965.
There are not very many Pyetts around and I would like to know if there are any other Pyetts out there that may be related to myself. You never know! Please drop me a line if you have any info or if you fancy a chat.

In doing some research on Woollards, I ran across your reply. My Great Grandfather was Issac Woollard, his son Henry was my father. I have information on ancestors back to my 5th Great-Grandparent John Woollard b. 1652 in Clemsford, Suffolk. I would be glad to correspond with you or anyone to verify my data and expand on the branches. My tree on Ancestry is "HenryIWoollard-Minnie A.Holderfield of Marshalltown IA" Email- rwoollard@nc.rr.com

Dear R Woollard

How interesting. I've got details of my Woollard line going back to about 1750 - I can't read the handwriting earlier than than in the parish records. Isaac was certainly a popular name. Yes, please lets share information.

Mine were all 'peasants' who stopped digging the land and started digging railways when the chance came

I live in Chelmsford in Essex - I teach English and I'm going to retire in the summer after which I'll have a lot more time for finding out things!

Best wishes, Alison
