Hi Kat, how is your Pyburn/Piburn research going in Missouri? I am descended from Edward Pyburn/Piburn and Rebecca Neeley. I am curious as to the names of your grandfather and paternal grandfather and the young Piburn grandaughter who died shortly after giving birth. What is the name of the German family and do you know the name of the Pyburn/Piburn who was involved in this scandalous story? Who is the Piburn Wife and husband that you refer to as "Native"? and what is the name of your supposedly halfbreed ggrandmother? Also, where in North Missouri. I do need to have some information on names, dates and places so I can give you some assistance. Remember, there is always some remnant of truth in all family stories, all one has to do is pick it out.

My Edward was b.abt 1775, he says Tenn.,two of his sons say Maryland, and my grandfather was told England; family story says Scotland. In 1775 Tenn. was either Va. or NC. The original spelling is "Pybourne" and I have some 30 spelling variations. The spelling Piburn was adopted by Edward's Children. Most Piburns can be traced back to Edward Pyburn in Missouri. Edward was living with Jacob in North Carolina, Buncome Co. Court records seem to indicate that he was not Jacob's son, maybe a nephew?. Edward Pyburn and Rebecca Neeley(b. abt 1790 in Tenn.), were married abt 1808, their dau. Nancy was born abt.1810 in Tenn. They were in Missouri by May 15, 1819 where child # 5, James Harvey Pyburn/Piburn was born in Howard Co.,part of Howard Co. then became Ray Co., then part of Ray Co. became Clay Co. They could have lived in one house and three counties. The Edward Pyburn/Piburn of Clay Co. is My Third great grandfather, I have quite a bit of info. on him and his family. My e-mail address is: cepiburn@aol.com --

Hi Bev. Yes. Christina J. Piburn was the daughter of David Piburn and Matilda Shouse Daniels. David was a son of Edward Pyburn and Rebecca Neeley. I am not related down David's line, but Edward is my 3rd. great grandfather. Please contact me at cepiburn@aol.com. Looking forward to hearing from you. Christina

Does anyone have information on an Edward Piburn born April 16, 1918? He was my Great Grandfather, he just passed away this past week and I'm trying to trace my family back. He was the oldest, his siblings included Don Piburn, Marv Piburn.

Hi Shawn,
My name is Christina Piburn and Edward Pyburn b. 1775 and Rebecca Neeley b. 1790 are my ggg grandparents, they were m. in 1808 TN. They are not the parents of Naomi Pyburn m. to Austin Choate, Jr. before 1802. Rebecca would have been about 10 when she got pregnant (and not married). I have often wondered if Edward Pyburn, b. 1775 had a wife before Rebecca, but I have not been able to find any information. I do not know who Austin Choate, Jr. married, but I do know there is a family on the internet that has a chart linking Austin Choate, Jr. as being married to his mother, Elizabeth Naomi "Oma" Pyburn (she went by 'Oma' for short) b. 1753, with other spouses.

There was an Elizabeth Naomi Pyburn (Naomi for short) b. 1802 to Jacob Pyburn (b.ca. 1785) and Mary Webb. She lived in Marion Co. Tn. when she married Jessie Beene (several spellings). They were m. ca. 1819

It would be nice to know who came up with the information that Austin Choate, Jr. m. Naomi Pyburn before 1802. I have not been able to find her anywhere before that statement.

Over the years have you figured out your Pyburn/Choate connections? Pyburn's and Choate's and everyone else were going West. Many followed the same trails, but were not related.

Have you been able to prove who was the father of Elizabeth Naomi "Oma" Pyburn, b. 1753? I have no proof that it was Jacob. His brothers John and Benjamin Piborn/Pyburn were around at the same time, same place.

Happy Hunting on your Pyburn and Choate families,

Christina
