Surnames: Puyear/Puyear/Preyer, Buckman, Wayne
I wondered if these two Union soldiers could be "my" Wm and John. Thank you so much for the information. I had not gotten beyond Aaron Harding Puryear in my tree so had not made the connection with John living with his first cousin and her husband's household in 1870. It appears all but my gg-grandmother dropped the "r" from their last name. Ellen's daughter, Melissa's death certificate listed the last name as Puryear. Up until I found that record a few years ago, we weren't sure whether it was Preyer or Puryear. Days ago I found Ellen's sister, Eliza J Puyear. Eliza married Demetrius Buckman in Taylor County on 12 Jan 1870. They had two sons, Albert b. abt 1876 and Robert b. abt 1878. I found the family living in Mannsville, Taylor County, Ky in 1880. Unfortunately, Eliza died just two years later on 19 Apr 1882. But I've yet to find out where she is buried or what became of her two sons. Demetrius remarried years later but had no children by his second wife, Sallie Wayne. She died in 1915. Three years later, Demetrius was living in Louisville (found via the 1918 city directory). He died in 1924. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate his tombstone either. I'm hoping someone might know something about what became of Demetrius and Eliza's two sons. Thanks again for your help with the Puryear line. Jane
