Adeline Nepean was the second wife of Henry Lavallin Puxley. After the death of his first wife Catherine Ellen Waller, Henry left Ireland and met Adeline.

Henry was 1 of 5 children and from his marrage to Catherine had 7 children.

I am in the process of tracing this side of my family and have detailed information on many generations of the Puxley, Lavallin and Waller families.

I have information on the Puxley family from 1685 to present day and go back as far with some of the families who married into the Puxley's.

I will be posting this information shortly, but at present I am checking a number of facts on various family members before doing so.

If you want to contact me to exchange information, please reply.

Kylie,
Henry Lavallin Puxley was one of the Puxleys who lived on the Beara peninsula in South West Ireland. They ran a copper mine for many years and Henry built a gothic extension to the family mansion. When his first wife died he left Ireland never to return.
The story of the copper mines on the Beara is told in Daphne du Maurier's novel "Hungry Hill". She had access to the family papers in writing her book and from other bits I have gleaned about the family, the book is very true to its sources.
You can find out more about this branch of the family by searching on Beara in Ireland, or Beara Tourism. Also look at the Beara Breffni greenway site. This year as part of celebrations of an historic march by the O'Sullivan clan from Beara to Breffni, there are all sorts of events happening including a mining museum in Allihies on Beara.
I am interested in this branch of the family as I am doing some research on the history of Beara in the 19th century. If you or anyone else reading this has any information which they would let me have access to I would be very grateful.

Hi James, I wonder if you can pass on the names and birth dates of Henry Puxley's children? I am researching the Mahony family of Dromore, whose connection with Puxley appears to have been through the Waller family.

Many thanks.

As far as we can trace, no links at all to above or any Irish conections whatsoever.

London/Home Counties/ East Coast seem to be where the roots lay. Shipbuilding and repair seem to be our early thing. The Northseamen by John Leather 1971 gives us a few mentions. Cheers.

Roger

p.s. interesting that there is a village in Northamptonshire called Puxley, again unable to trace links.

Janet,

This link will be a help.

http://www.gallot.co.nz/Guinness/Edwin_Rowland_Guinness.htm

The page has been copied from a Beara tourist website which has since disappeared. The information is accurate.

It seems to have been a family tradition to use a wife's maiden name as a middle name for the children, which continued through the generations. Hence you will see both the Waller and the Lavallin name as middle names through the generations.

Surnames: PUXLEY; PASCOE
My family tree has Katherine (Kate) Puxley c.1851 married to my Great Grandfather's brother, Mark Reed Pascoe (1851-1928)in Durban, South Africa on 2 Jan 1877. Do you have any links by any chance? This is all I know about Katherine.
Mark Pascoe's father, Captain Henry Pascoe, left Cornwall to work at the Berehaven Mines - ref The Berehaven Copper Mines by R.A. Williams - from c.1855 to 1870. Mark and Kate named one of their 7 children Stanley Levallin - can't be a coincidence!
Hope someone out there can help me.

I can't give you a definitive answer at the moment but you are obviously correct that it is not a coincidence. I too have looked at Alan Williams' book for further info but without success. All I can tell you for now is that I think Henry Pascoe's wife was named Elizabeth and they had 2 (at least) children whilst he was working at the Berehaven Mines:-
Henry Albert b.21/06/1855 and Joseph b.09/11/1857.
As my project continues I expect to uncover further details which would be of interest to you so you may wish to note my email address which is kenmason3@sky.com.
