I am trying to find information on James Fayers Puxley born 01.04.1870. He emigrated to Australia and ultimately I believe to Papua New Guinea. Also on his brother Stephen Puxley born in 1875 who I understand was "a naughty boy" and was shipped to America. I can find no record of either of these people. Can anyone help me please?

hi

It is a very old surname and our family have been tracing back and managed to go back to late 1700s then got stuck.

Village in Northamptonshire called Puxley - a few houses and farm buildings.

Seems our mob comes from London or surrounds (north of the Thames). Distant relatives still in London. We managed to track down some long lost branches of the family and make contact.

We are nothing to do with the infamous Irish Puxleys who got bombed and chased out of Ireland by the IRA - Dunboy Castle - Daphne Dumaurier books)or Welsh Laveillin Puxleys.

Seems our distant relatives got as far as Canada, Australia etc.

We are associated with the Whitlocks (London mainly) and Coles (come from Plymouth), etc.

Your parents may have some knowledge of past relatives which may help unravel the Puxley history, which they are prepared to share.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Roger Puxley

ps do you know if your family is connected to our lot?

Thank you so much for your message - I am currently working on the Puxley family as we have recently had a bereavement and I would like to give more information to another cousin who I met again last year after about 55 year! My connection is through Sarah Eliza who was my grandmother.

Perhaps you could contact me direct chrisdavies2401@yahoo.co.uk then I can send you everything I have. I did know that Alice Ethel had married but not that she had a family. Do you by any chance know anything about Stephen Puxley born about 1875 who was one of Alice's brothers? The story goes that he was sent to America as he was a "naughty boy" but I can't find him anywhere. Looking forward to hearing from you.
