I am interested in a Johann Puvogel, who at the age of 17 immigrated via Bremen to New York aboard the S. S. Hermann on Oct. 5, 1882.

Thanks,

I believe that my great grandfather Johann Puvogel emigrated to New York in 1884 - at least it appears that way from the records I have collected - I do not have a ship yet. He married Bertha Kamna and had 7 children - remained in New York until his death in 1940. I am not aware if he had any brothers or sisters in the US.

Do you happen to know who Johann's wife was, and who his children were? I'm still trying to locate my great-grandfather Puvogel--don't know for sure his first name. I know that his wife's name was Dorothea, possibly Sophie Dorothea, and that he had (at least) two sons and a daughter. That daughter, Sophie Anna Puvogel, was my grandmother. She was born in NYC, I believe in Brooklyn. Her father was from the Bremen area, and I know there was a Johann somewhere in her background.
