According to Perley's History of Salem, "John Putnam, son of Nicholas and Margaret (Goodspeed) Putnam, was baptized at Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, England, 17 JAN 1579-80; emigrated to America from Aston Abbotts, Berkshire, England; yeoman; married Priscilla Gould; died suddenly in Salem Village, where he lived, 30 DEC 1662; children, baptized at Aston Abbotts; 1. Elizabeth, baptized 20 DEC 1612; admitted to the church in Salem in 1643; 2. Thomas, baptized 7 MAR 1614-5; 3. John, baptized 24 JUL 1617; buried at Aston Abbotts 5 NOV 1620; 4. Nathaniel, baptized 11 OCT 1619; 5. Sarah, baptized 7 MAR 1622-3; 6. Phebe, Baptized 28 JUL 1624; 7. John, baptized 27 MAY 1627.
"Nathaniel Putnam [baptized11 OCT 1619] married Elizabeth Hutchinson; she died 24 JUN 1688; he died 23 JUL 1700; children: 1. Samuel, born 18 FEB 1652-3; 2. Nathaniel, born 24 APR 1655; 3. John, born [26 MAR 1657; 4. Joseph, born 29 AUG 1659; 5. Elizabeth, born] 11 AUG 1662; married George Flint; 6. Benjamin, born 24 DEC 1664; 7. Mary, born 15 SEP 1668; married John Tufts of Charlestown."
