My husband's grandfather was John Bernard Puthoff. His father, John Bernard Puthoff, was born in Ostrefeine, Germany, and came to the USA in the 1850's with his family. They settled in Minster OH. There is a very large Puthoff family from around Ft. Loramie OH who are not related as far as I can tell, though their heritage also goes back to Ostrefeine. I have information going back to the early 1700's in Germany for both Puthoff families. The Ft. Loramie branch originally were called Kleine Puthoff and my husband's family were called Grosse Puthoff.

Carolyn, do you have any Wiebrink(wehebrink)-Morman marriages in this Puthoff line? The mother of Morman could have been Anna Engel Morman. I have several Johan Bernard Mormans born about the same time and I need to determine which one was married to Catharina Angela Wiebrink. Thank you for your time. Ann

I do not have Wiebrink/Wehebrink in my database. I have a Johann Lucas Mormon who married Angela Puthoff in 1744 recorded at St. Viktor Church in Damme. They had 7 children about which I know nothing except their names and birth/baptism dates from St. Viktor: Anna Maria Angela Adelheid, Johann Heinrich, Maria Angela, Maria Alheid, Anna Maria, Johann Bernard b. Dec. 3, 1755, Johann Bernard Heinrich Joseph b. Feb. 26, 1759.

Hi Carolyn,
I am still working on a connection between Wehebrink and Morman. Can you give me any information of the parents and grandparents of Angela Putthoff? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anne

Angela Puthoff's parents were Bernard Heinrich Puthoff b. 6/29/1700 who married Anna Catharine Austing on 4/28/1723 at St. Viktor Church, Damme. Bernard Heinrich's parents were Arnold Heinrich Puthoff b. 3/31/1659 and Margaret.

I have some information on the same Puthoff family. I would be interested in trading information. Please email me if you are interested.

Dear Ms Naas: I read your entry in ancestry.com re: Puthoff/Austing. While assigned to US Army Military Police Customs, my father, Gilbert Louis Bernard Austing Jr, located relatives in Damme im Lohne. We visited St Viktor's Church. I'm wondering if Anna Catherine Austing is related to me. We visited Josef Austing, who had a "Kraftfutterwerk" in Damme. I can't remember his wife's name, but they met us at the train station in Oldenburg, Germany and took us back to their home for a few days. My grandfather, Gilbert Louis Bernard Austing Sr's father had emigrated from Germany in the 1870's; Dad had traced us back a few generations prior to that. If you'd care to correspond with me, I can be reached at maus@tusco.net.

Carolyn,

I am a member of the Puthoff family from the Minster/Ft. Loramie area and just getting started on researching my family tree. I would be extremely appreciative of any information you have on these families. I have some information from the research my uncle has done, but we are always looking for more! Who knows maybe I could fill in some blanks.
