My great, great grandfather, Jacob Puschinsky, married Matilda Lemerzahl. Their son, Benjamin, was my great Grandfather. Benjamin married Ida Carlson and their son, George, was my father. George changed his surname to Pushing in 1935-36. I would like to find more about the Puschinsky ancestry and decendents. Thanks.

M. Lee Pushing -

Do you have a date of birth on Benjamin
Puschinsky? I show a date of death as
Nov 4, 1909. My great-great grandfather
was Frederick Puschinsky (shows up as
Ferdinand on the 1871 Canadian Census due
to clerical error on behalf of the typist).
I do have family file information available
for you from Benjamin down. We are all
trying to trace Benjamin up the tree though.
All of Frederick's 12 children settled in
Minnesota and North Dakota, while most of
Jacob's family stayed closer to Neustadt,
Ontario, Canada (where they originally
settled). Please contact me by email

My grandmother's brother was Jacob Puchinsky from Kiev. I have the family tree for the rest of the family (all my grandmother's other siblings).

I am descended from Joseph Puchinsky from the Vilna district of the Russian Empire. He appeared as Osip Puczinsky on the Ellis Island ship manifest.

Is Puchinsky just a different spelling of Puschinsky, or are they distinct names?
