William: My paternal grandmother was Annae Pusateri (1882-1927), born in Termini Imerese Sicily. She was the daughter of Gaspare Pusateri and Rosa Galino Pusateri. She married my grandfather, Giuseppe Zucchero (1875-1951) on November 8, 1902. He was also born in T.I.Sicily. His parents were Pietro Zucchero and Antonina Passafiume Zucchero. Giuseppe immigrated to US in 1898 and settled in Alliance, Ohio. He returned to Sicily in 1902 to marry his fiance and bring her and her parents for permanent settlement in US. Could there be any connection between my Pusateri heritage and the names Ausustino and Augustina of Palermo? I am in the process of writing an extensive account of both sides of my family and I keep running up against a brick wall when it comes to finding anything on the Pusateri's. Can you help me. You may e-mail me: WZucchero@aol.com Any help you might give me would be greatly appreciated. Bill Zucchero

Did any of these 12 children move to Chicago?
|
The answer is a resounding yes. In the 50's my father set out to find his lost relatives there. He returned disappointed being unable to locate anyone. I remember this vividly. He always hoped he would find whoever in particular he was looking for. His parents lived most of their lives in Pittsburgh. One daughter moved to Harrisburg, Pa. With so many children, I have no doubt that some of them scattered further. If I were one of 12 I would want to get away too. I think (just a hunch) that the move was prompted by a marriage I think to a Chicago businessman.

My husband's family are all from Chicago--well, Sicily originally, of course. My Husband is Anthony, his father Eugene (Geno) he is 70, his father Peter, HIS father Pietro and his brothers were Leo and August (Gus) Pusateri. His sisters were: Anna, May, Sarah, Leana and possibly two others. Pietro ran a produce business off a push cart in Downtown Chicago and we are currently trying to find out information.
We are keeping the name going here in south Texas with our own 7 children. We found two Pusateri families here...one guy moved here recently from Rome--his family is in Sicily still and to our luck they are visiting Texas and we get to meet tomorrow. So, having a Pusateri directly from Sicily at my dinner table will be great. Even if there is no connection!
Any possible the above names are any connected to PA? Interesting stuff!

Do you know of any Chicago Pusateri's? We are searching my husband's family back and are trying to get information. He is Anthony, his father, Eugene (Geno), his father, Peter, His father Pietro--and he came here first from Sicily. Any info you have would be appreciated. Pietro had August (Gus) and Leo for brothers and sisters: Anna, May, Sarah, Leana and possibly 2 more. I'd love your info!

could the two others have been named saul or sal, and mary ann?
|
Randy, Perhaps so. Do you have a Chicago connection? I think the other two were girls--so Mary Ann could be. I'd be interested in any information you have. Thanks.
