We are looking for information on the Purington (Purrington) and Roberts family. What little information we know about these people came from bits and pieces of old letters and what's left of a family bible. We were told that they either immigrated from Canada or England. But we do know that they lived in MN, WA, CA and possibly other states. My Grandmother Vivian was a great one for distroying information about the family. She spoke very little about them.
Great Grandfather Irving T. Purington b. 1883 we believe in MN and died March 19, 1919 in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA. He married my Great Grandmother Daisey D. Roberts November 2, 1907, daughter of Emery S. Roberts and Anges Hurlburt. She was born February 4, 1889 in Minnesota and died April 13, 1937 in Seattle, WA.
Issue:
My Grandmother Vivian Helen Purington, b. July 31, 1909 in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA. Died January 18, 1979 in East Bakersfield, Kern Co., CA.
Jay Clifford Edward Purington, b. June 17, 1914 in Spokane, Spokane co., WA.
Robert Irving Purington, b. June 13, 1911 in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA.
We believe that Irving had 2 sibblings we also don't know if these are their full names:
Augusta Purrington, b. November 23, 1889, died February 1979 in possible Pullman, Whitman Co., WA.
Jay Purrington b. not known d. not known.
Also within the old family papers is an old picture of a Civil War soldier in uniform. That was given to my Grandmother, on the back it states "Your ggUncle Lewis Daratt prisoner in Anersonville", while searching out information on this, the picture was taken in NY, the records in Andersonville Civil War prison states he died. His first and last name are spelled several ways on the same document. We do not know which side of the family he was connected too.
If any of the above names sound familiar are know from your research any and all information would be greatly appreciated because we've hid the brick wall for a long time.
