As I had to leave so many things behind when moving here I do not have all the family history with me, but have enough to continue the search. I think the information was from either the 1841 or 1851 census. I assume Edward junior was living with John and Ann Yates because his father was a Mariner. However, by the time Edward junior - known as George - married, his father was Master Mariner. This gave me the impression that he may have been still living in 1859. According to information which I have been unable to verify, Edward and Harriet drowned at sea. I believe that there were other brothers but thought they were brothers to Edward senior, and that they too were mariners. Would you like to email me direct? bumblee@a-h.net

One further thought... the census referred to was Stepney or Mile End Old Town, Middlesex. If I remember rightly think it was John Street.
