Many thanks for your assistance.

The information I have on Patrick is confined to the shipping document (he came here as an Assisted Immigrant) and his burial record. It's the burial record on which I am basing his approximate birth year.

I had previously looked for Patrick and his wife and her family (Hempfield/Hemfrey/Henfil/Enfield - they've been a bit of a challenge!)on the 1851 Census. Couldn't find any of them, so presume they went to Sheffield after that Census.

They married Jan-Mar, 1856 Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Yorkshire - West Riding - Vol.9c, Page 257 - Recorded as Purcal & Hemfit/Henifit, so not long before embarking for Australia.

The reason I am particularly interested in any siblings of Patrick is because his son, also Patrick, and his wife and young kids went from Sydney to Western Australia in the late 1890's. Picked them up in a small mining community with a Peter Purcell. A son born during their time in WA was named Daniel Peter - very unusual names for this family. I'm wondering if Patrick and Peter may have been related.

WA was not terribly fussy about recording parents' names on birth and death registrations so no way of tracking Peter's family.

Irish records are so sparse, I think my only chance with tracking down my relatives is to find someone else who is researching them. Or wait until I get to "the other side".

Some day, some way.
