Rosy,
I would like to know a little more about your side of the family and where you fit in the puopolo tree. i cannot just send it to someone i have not talked to and gotten some information from so i can add you and your family to it. if there are people that are still living i would not suggest you do it here on the board. i am making a CD it will not be put on the computer . Some people who are alive would not want that and as far as i know it is not proper unless you put no name, contact me at efacciuto59@yahoo.com so we may talk some more. betty

Yes, our family Puopolo was from Avellino, Italy originally. My great grandfather was Rocco Puopolo. My grandfather was Dominic Puopolo who was married to Charlotte Knadler Puopolo. He died on this day in 1997 of lung cancer. Dominic and Charlotte had four sons named Dominic, James, John, and Paul. We grew up in Boston originally and moved to the suburbs of Boston as a kid. Dominic J. Puopolo Sr. started several successful businesses in the US based in Boston. He was married to Sonia Morales Puopolo. Sadly our beloved Sonia was killed on 9/11 on American flight 11 from Boston to LA to see my brother Mark Anthony Puopolo. Mark did make contact with other Puopolos in California in the late 1990's you mentioned in your post. I have since 9/11 worked on affording justice for our mother Sonia Morales Puopolo and our entire Puopolo family for our devastating loss. The attacks changed everyone. John Puopolo my uncle introduced me as a kid to Andrew Puopolo, who I believe was a second or third cousin and his brother in Hyde Park at a boxing gym when I was 10. Andrew who you wrote about sadly was taken too early in life in 1977 while trying to help save a woman from being mugged, and this is whom the park was named after in the North End. He played football for Harvard in the 70's. The park is called Andrew Puopolo Memorial Park I believe, right off Prince Street. My family currently resides in Miami as living in Boston proved too difficult after 9/11. My name is Dominic J. Puopolo, Jr. I hope this answers some of your questions. I just came across your request now 2 years one month later, sorry but I was overseas affording justice to my mother Sonia Puopolo by assisting in the conviction of one of the 9/11 terrorist co-conspirators. Puopolos are proud people and we value our family over everything else as you probably know. Yes, cancer does run in the family as you wrote by the way particularly on my grandmother Charlotte's side. Charlotte is still alive and lives in West Roxbury, MA. I remember as a kid meeting many of my father's cousins and their kids you wrote about. Many of your facts match up with what I know to be true. Anyway, I guess our love of family and respect was something our ancestors or great grandfather Rocco carried with them over from the old country and never forgot teaching us. Merry Christmas 2006 and Peace 2007 to all Puopolos and our relatives - Dominic J Puopolo Jr. great grandson Rocco Puopolo, grandson Dominic Puopolo, son Dominic J Puopolo Sr. 22dec06

Hi there. Rita was my Dads sister. We used to visit her and Uncle Ernie when we were kids. It seemed that everyone died so quickly .Uncle Kurt, Ernie,Auntie Josie,Rita, Madeline,It was crazy as a kid because it seemed like our entire family was gone. No more big New Years or Christmas parties. No more hanging out with our cousins. It is reallytoo bad because my son, Andrew, has always asked about his cousins and other family but I had no idea what happened to everyone. My Brothers wife, Sonia, was killed on Flight 11 on 911. It really traumatized our Family. To this day it still has never recovered from thwe horror of that day.I saw Paul Weiss and Mikey Capone at the memorial service we held for her.I was too out of it to really say much though. I never even had a chance to thank them for coming. Hopefully we'll meet again and I can explain. My Brothers and I have all done ok in life. Dominic lives in Miami. He is a retired businessman who had a very sucessful career. He co founded American Medical Response a world wide ambulance company which they sold for a great deal of money 10 or so years ago.James is an attorney, though he isn't practicing.Paul is also a businessman and owned Puopolo Harware Co.in Weston Ma for many years until it closed 10 years ago.I am still employed as the Director of a rehabilitation facility for adult men with drug or alcohol problems. It is owned by one of the larger substance abuse and mental health providers in Massachusetts. My Mother, Charlotte, is alive and lives in Boston.I would love to hear from any of our relatives. I have thought of having a Family Reunion for years now but did not know where to begin. If anyone has any thoughts please pass them along. John C Puopolo Bourne,Ma.
