I've come across several of your names in my Punches research, but haven't been able to tie them to my line. The closest is a Magdalena who married one of the Peter Punches. I say "one of" because there were a bunch of Peters. Supposedly he is listed as Peter Punch or Punches in some records and Peter Pontius in others. If that could be proven it could help me since I've hit a wall with George Punches who is supposedly the son of Peter. James C. Punches has done some work researching the various Peters, and it is in the LDS Family History Library. Magdalena is in it. There could be two Magdalenas of course. My proven line starts with Perry Punches, son of a George Punches, who was born in Defiance, OH. They moved to Kent Co. MI around 1870 and my people stayed there. I think there was a Moses Punches in some of the Michigan archive listings, but I didn't keep notes on him. If any of this helps you or you think our lines merge, let me know. I'd love to share data.

I don't know a lot of family history, but saw your message and can tell you what I do know. My mother was Vicki Punches (b.1951) born of Cleal Punches, son of Peter and Gertrude (Kinder) Punches, all of NW Ohio. If you are familiar with this line of Punches or would like more details, I can provide some.

Peter Punches m. Gertrude Kinder
I am researching the Punches line that came from OH to MI around 1870. Can you tell me who Peter's father was? I'm pretty sure he ties into our line. You can email direct at hilltop@ak.net. Len

I've run across both these names in my research but didn't keep notes on them. I'll keep my eyes peeled and make better notes. One thing: there were quite a few Pontiuses in Fayette, Seneca County, NY in the early- to mid-1800's. Some are buried in the Burgh Cemetery there...see website: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Enyseneca/burgh.htmBut I've seen a Martin L. Punches in Sandusky in 1850, and I think there was also one in Portland County in 1850. There was a Daniel Punches who died 14 Jul 1870 in Plymouth, MI who was a 57-year-old cabinet maker from NY; his parents' names weren't listed. Where did you get the Magdalena?

Okay, assuming this is Edson Goit, his oldest brother was Oliver H.P., supposedly Oliver Hazard Perry, who is supposedly the Perry of my line. That's the link I've been trying to prove. Did Goit stay in Ohio?

I have an Ernest E., son of Charles William Punches, who was born about 1876, don't have exact date. My source was the 1880 census of Allegan County, MI, where he must have been listed as being 4. If you found him in later censuses, where did it say he and his father were from?
