My Nicholas S Punch B abt 1815 came from prob the Cheraws Dist, Chertfield, SC to Mobile, Alabama aft 1845 but bef 1850 census. His wife Martha A Gamewell was dau of Meth Ep minister John Gamewell who traveled but is buried in Horry co, SC. Nicholas and Martha's children were all born in SC - John Asbury Sr 1840-1885, William Frank Feb 1840 never married - was a Druggist in Mobile and lived with spinster siter Charlotte D born 1845. And Archibald M. Punch b abt 1843-44 who married Mary Eliz. Bullock (their children Florence Helen and Cecil Fleming)and lvd in Mobile AL.
Nicholas had a brother John Smith Punch that pur in 1856 a lot in the New Orleans area who lived with the family when old. He aparently had no children surviving him-might have not married. My ancestor was John Asbury, Jr b 1868 in Mobile. He had 2 siblings, Martha b ab 1873 and Frank W b abt 1876. Tradition is that name was spelled Pynch in Wales. Since Mobile is so close to LA and Punch's so rare thought might give us some clues?

My grandmothers mother is a Punch from Lafourche. I have been able to trace back to about 1850. From what I understand from my grandmother. The family was from Spain. There were 3 brothers who came in to the country through New York. Two of the brothers stayed and Simon came to Louisiana on his own. She says she can remember older cousins going to New York to visit. Let me know if this helps and if there is anything you can share with me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Our Punch (Pyntch) family came from Wales via Ireland to MD or NC before 1750. Lived in the Cheraws Dist of SC on 1790 cenus. Went throught TN abt 1795-1815 on way to Montgomery,AL before Civil War and settle in Mobile later. Some also went to MO. So must be a different line.
