Hi Suzanne

Gosh this Family Tree business is time consuming! I have been looking through my records and found something that may be of interest to you. Patrick and Elizabeth had three children Patrick Francis (DOB 1889), Pierce Joseph (DOB 1891) and Eileen Elizabeth (DOB 1893). It states Leichart as their place of birth. That's all I can find at this stage.

Cheers

Hi Colleen - it is very time consuming hobby - I had Patrick's & Elizabeth's children - just can't follow through with Pierce Joseph, I tried looking for him using Peter instead of Pierce.

I have been putting together a timeline of possible arrivals for the children who came to Australia - none of them came as assisted immigrants and therefore probably came out here as part of crew. All Mathew and Mary's sons except Joseph were mariners.

Joseph may well have arrived in New Zealand aboard one of his brother's ships. John was known to have gone back and forth to various parts of New Zealand.

Cheers
Suzanne

I am also a descendant of John & Mary Hinchey, via their son William John Punch. Mary was the daughter of a convict called Patrick William Hinchey - which caused a bit of a ruckus in the Punch family. The Greenway part of the Punch name comes from when Mathew Punch married Mary Greenway, and their son became John Greenway Punch.

My family have carried on the tradition of naming the first born son John Punch

One of my cousins has researched the Punch family quite extensively. I will enquire about Pierce

Hi Colleen,
Captain John Greenway was also my great great grandfather. His son William was my great grandfather - so that makes us cousins??
One of my cousins has been very active - would love to share information.

John Greenway Punch was the mayor of Balmain for some years. There is Punch Park that was named after him. He owned a lot of property in Balmain including a few pubs. I have a record of his will and his death notice from the newspaper.
