I am a Pulcher! I have been researching my family and extensions for some time now, on and off for several years. My direct line is the following: Carolynn, Robert Sr, Calvin, Alexander, Francois/Frank, Jean Baptiste, Claudius Jacques, Franciscus Johannes, and Johannes/Jean. From the information that I have collected from various sources, here is what I know. The spelling has changed a few times. It has gone from Purtcher, Pulchair, and Pulcher. However, I do not believe that the spelling is of any significance at this time. I believe it was just mispelled by the clerks when creating the records. My family line arrived in the US from France in 1853. I do not know the ship they arrived on. They relocated to Cahokia, Illinois by way of New York and moved to Murphysboro, Illinois in 1857. There are Pulchers still in Murphysboro and France as well as else where. I also have some information that has the family living in Switzerland before France. This may or not be correct. I am trying to locate Wald, Dallas, parish of Coir, Sonnenberg.
I am interested in filling any gaps. I would especially like to know what ship the Pulchers arrived on. I am always interested in meeting new family members.

Carolynn,
Going thru my mothers old keepsakes, I have found a card of the sort that is given out at funerals of a man, a priest named James C. Pulcher. Born March 21, 1843. Ordained December 23 1866, and died August 14, 1899. I wonder if this is a relation of yours and I wonder why she had this. I am trying to see if there is a Pulcher back in my family. My maiden name is Page.
