Hi all,
I thought I would put down a note on behalf of a coworker I'm assisting with her family tree and especially as I've not seen this Pujol family yet mentioned here.
She is the daughter of Lillian Pujol (married Ferguson) born in DeLisle Mississippi (aka Christian Pass) in 1933.
Her father was Alfred Pujol born 08 May 1887 in New Orleans, LA and died 28 Sept 1938 in Delisle, MS. Alfred was also a Private 1st Class in the US Army during WW1 with the 47th Engineers. He was also a bridge carpenter. He married Alena Ellen Pavolini, (b 8 June 1910 Harrison County MS, d 30 Sept 1987, same) daughter of Julius Caeser Pavolini and was granddaughter of Antonio Pavolini, a well known ship builder in the Wolf City/Delisle area.
Alfred Pujol was the son of Augustin/Auguste Pujol born about 1845 in Louisiana, died 10 May 1893 in New Orleans. He was a carpenter and had a place right about where the French Market stands today (or maybe was in it? I don't know). He married Augusta Lejeune b 1858 in Thibodeaux Parish, LA and died 15 Aug 1893 in New Orleans.
Alfred had several brothers and a sister including Ernest Auguste b 22 Dec 1874 in New Orleans, Andrew Henry August John born 13 Sept 1880 in New Orleans, Ernestine Pujol 04 Sept 1876 in New Orleans, and August Dec 1885 in New Orleans.
Augustin/Auguste 's parents appear to be J. (jean? Joseph?) and Theresa Pujol who resided in the 7th ward New Orleans in 1850 (Place of birth for J is Cataluynia).
The story my friend's mother has told her, which so far appears to be backed up with the records I'm finding is that the parents of Albert and his siblings died close together and that his elder sister married young, though she had promised the last living parent to take care of her younger brothers and not sell the family shop (her mother thought it furniture).
Both parents died within months of each other, elder sister Ernestine married a Mr Joseph Brune the same month of their last parent dying, and the brothers were sent to an orphanage.
The 1900 Census has Alfred and his brother August at the Harrison county MS 'Waifs Home". Her grandmother also said one of the brothers, Henry, died shortly after running away from the orphanage and being struck by a train or truck or something. I can only imagine that is Andrew Henry.
At any rate, this is lengthy, but I wanted to put this out there to see if it hit with anyone, who could maybe fill in some blanks or confirm any info. I believe I've found the Lejeune family for Alfred's mother and the Pavolini's as well for his wife's side.
