My late father Anatoly was born in Russia or the Ukraine on May 5, around 1910. He met my Mom in a labour camp in Germany. He died in October 1982.

I don't know the name Anatoly, but my father was named Pugach and was born in the Ukraine in 1900. His father left about 2 years later to go to the U.S. to make enough money to bring the others over. Then in 1906 my father and his mother followed with a few other siblings. They settled in Newark, New Jersey. The name of the town in the Ukraine was Volochisk. We are told that my father's great grandfather lived to be 106 and outlived 6 wives. We also know some other details about other family members. When they came to the U.S. they changed their name to Pogash (Ellis Island) because it was easier to spell.

Hi: Saw your message. Not sure about Anatoly Pugach but my grandfather Harry Pugach and great grandfather Joseph and grandmother Sara Feinman all were from the Ukraine ( Kiev) and arrived in the USA in or around 1900-1910. Do you know the names of any other family members from that part of Russia? Where are you located?

My dad Anatoly was born May 5, 1911 (approx) somewhere in the Ukraine, and was of Cossack blood, and he was a "felsher" or "doctor/medic". He spent most of WWII in a Labour camp in Germany during the war & consequently came to Newmarket, Ontario, Canada in 1949.
He married Karolina Potyava (his 2nd wife)and had 5 children. He passed away in 1982.
We (his children) all live in British Columbia, Canada now. His son Yuri has been working as a consultant in Russia for 4-5 years now, but has been unable to track down any family members.

Hi, my greatgrandfather, Misha Pugach, was from Odessa (Ukraine). He moved with his wife, Clara, to Buenos Aires in the early 1900. Do you know any Pugach that may be related to him? I'd like to have information about my last name.

Thank you in advance!

Do you know where Harry Pogash entered the US
I think he may have been my grandfather, too, based on what you are saying.

My wife's grandfather was a Harry Pugach, born in Russia around 1890 and immigrated into the US in 1906. His family shows up in Brooklyn in the 1930 Census. There is another Harry Pugach listed in Brooklyn, also a recent Russian immigrant but about 10 years younger than my grandfather-in-law.

My wife's family has a Harry Pugach who came over about 1900 as a child from Odessa. His siblings were Nunia, Luva, Fannie and Dave. According to Fannie's family memoir, the parents were Pinya and Dvora. Pinya came over before the rest of the family to find work. He tried to race in front of a train near Cleveland about 1898 and didn't make it.
