FAIRGROVE VETERAN CLAIMED BY DEATH

Chas. Puffer, a Civil war veteran and a pioneer farmer of Fairgrove, Mich., died at 8 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Florence Roscoe, 419 Albro pl, after an illness of two weeks. The infirmities of age were attributed as the cause of his death.

Mr. Puffer was a private in Co. A. 2_ (ink blot) regiment, of the Michigan infantry. At the close of the Civil war he took up a tract of land at Fairgrove, Mich., when that section of the state was a wilderness, where he resided until coming to Flint four years ago. In 1854 he was married to Margaret Livingston in New York state. He was a member of Akron Post, G.A.R., and was born in Genesee co, N.Y. September 6, 1831.

He leaves five children, Chauncey Puffer of Hale Lake, Mich., Chas. Puffer of Akron, Mich., John Puffer of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. T. Shaver of Detroit, and Mrs. Florence Roscoe of Flint.

Using newspaper clue of daughter "T. Shaver" found Guy R Shaver, 32, m x1, machinist, b. Canada, and Lilly Smith, 41, b. Tuscola Co, m x1, both residence Flint, his parents Geo G Shaver and Mary E Kearns, her parents Chas Paff... and (unnamed) Livingston, by DP Halsey, Justice of Peace, witnesses Florence Luce of Bay City (her sister) and AJ Buckley of Flint [image of record on FamilySearch]

While looking for any children of Adelbert Smith and Lilly Puffer, we found

Bernard Ray Adley, 26, parents Burton Adley and Sarah Griffiths, married 16 Apr 1910, St Catharines, Lincoln, Ontario, to Olive Pearl Smith, 25, parents Andrew Smith and Lillian Puffer. [no image on FamilySearch, but may be on a Canadian site]

Divorce image on Ancestry, Olive Adley vs Bernard Adley, b. St Catherines, Ontario on 16 Apr 1910, filed 19 Feb 1924, granted 2 Sep 1924, signed and dated 30 Sep 1924, no children.

1910 census, Niagara Falls, Niagara, NY, Olive G and Bernard R Adley, married less than one year, living with Burton and Sarah Adley.
