I am looking for my GGfather Chauncey or Chauncy Puffer who last resided in lower Michigan, Battle Creek area. It was believed he came from Wisc or Minn. He was first married to Della Livingston, then Flora Gilbert. My Gfather didn't get along with his new step mom so he left home at a very early age and changed his name to Albert Livingston, taking his mothers name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. My name is June Beckwith and I am a Puffer. Your GTGrandfather, Chancellor Livingston "Chauncy" Puffer was the oldest s/o of Charles and Margaret (Livingston) Puffer. Charles was born 1831 in Owego, Tioga Co. NY.
He was the youngest son of Ira John and Charity (Pangborn) Puffer. Charity was Ira's 2nd wife. My GGTGrandfather, Solomon Puffer, was "their" oldest son.
Solomon and Charles left Seneca, Ontario Co. NY together and came west in 1854. They settled in Lagrange co. IN where sister, Arvilla (Puffer) Nelson lived. Charles and Margaret eventually went on to St Joseph Co. MI where sister's Olive (Puffer) Sloan and Roxanne (Puffer) Wood had settled years earlier.
Charles enlisted in civil war, and if you do a yahoo search on his name or even mine, it will bring you to his enlistment info and a picture of he and Margaret.
Chauncy was born in Seneca, Ontario Co. and first married Delilah "Della" Gilbert, d/o of John and Mary Gilbert, in Fairgrove, Tuscola Co. MIon 2/20/1877. John and mary were divorced.
Della is sister Lydia Gilbert who married Charles Henry Puffer. I have pictures of Charles Henry and Lydia, and if Della looked anything like her sister, she was absolutely beautiful. Lydia, in her younger years is an absolute carbon copy of Robin Scorpio who is a character on the daytime soap, General Hospital. Charles and Lydia were married 9/26/1877.
Years ago I was in contact with a descendant of Chauncy and Della's through their daughter, Lulu. But, since that time they moved and i have no idea where to.
There is a Puffer genealogyu book written by a distant cousin, Charles Nutt. Charles Puffer is the last Puffer in the book. I have in the last 16 years pretty much put a lot of missing pieces together. I knew that Chauncy had a 2nd marriage, but I was under the impression that he married a woman by the name of Carrie. I had the feeling that info was wrong when it was passed on to me because Stanley Puffer was married to Carrie. Most of Charles and Margaret's kids migrated to lower Michigan. Charles and margaret are both buried in Fairgrove, Tuscola co. MI, but one of them died in Genesse co, and I think it was Margaret.
I would appreciate all info you have on the family, and welcome to your world of Puffer cousin's.
You may contact me at beckpuff54@aol.com. You can aalso look up my other Puffer posts on both Ancestry and Rootsweb message boards.
Warm Regards,
June L. Beckwith
ps. I now remember that I was told that Lulu (Luella) had a brother that was living at the time of her death and his name was Gilbert Livingston. I could never put two and two together....but maybe this is your Albert Livingston, and he took his dad's middle name/Grandmother's maiden name. the only think I have found out about the Livingston line is that Margaret's father was supposed to have been from Canada. I do not know how accurate this is. There were other Livngston's living in Wayne, Ontario, Seneca and Genesse co's in NY. But I never researched any firther as livingston was not of my line.

You wouldn't be the first to consider that for me. A cousin from your line, William Roddy "Rod" Puffer of Arlington, VA was so pleased with my work and making connections and finding family pics that he bought me the Puffer book by Charles Nutt. rod comes down your line through Charles and Margaret (Livingston) Puffer. He branches off to Charles henry and Lydia, who were his grandparent's. that is where I got the pics of Charles Henry and Lydia. The one of Charles and Margaret I got from another cousin, I think his Aunt Mary's daughter, Margaret Hoxey.
Ira John had 12 children. Six by his first wife, Mary Annajete (VanWormer) Puffer, and 6 by our foremother, Charity Pangborn Puffer. I have managed at one time or another to find at least one descendant from each child, except the 2nd daughter, Clarissa (Puffer) Perkins, and Nancy Puffer Woodcock who was born after my Solomon.
I found Ira's mother , Elizabeth Cady Mother's gravesite on the old Puffer Farm in Schenectady Co. NY.
I am glad we found each other.

Hi June, Larry from the Minnesota Puffers. You mentioned a Stanley Puffer who married Carrie Wilkie. I don't seem to have that Stanley in my records, can you divulge more about him? Also, while I had general records on Chancellor I have no accurate birthdates on any of his children, do you have them? I would appreciate the update. While I have most of the Puffer data in my Genealogy I am still trying to untie the Knot that was New York. I have added most relatives one generation up and down for everyone in the Nutt Book. I am descended from the Vermont Puffer's (p 160, Nutt)

LOL, I just sent you the site in a private e-mail. Looks like if you purchase it now, you will get a discount. I also know that they give you a discount with each additional book you purchase. You can also find the Cady Book there. Descendants of Nicholas Cady of Watertown, MA by Orris (?) forgot his last name.

Hi Larry. Are you from the line of Puffer's that have that great big Puffer Reunion every year for all Puffer's? I know I have been in touch with your line years ago.
Stanley Earl Puffer was the son of James Puffer, youngest s/o Charles and Margaret (Livingston) Puffer of Tuscola co. MI. Stanley did marry Carrie Wilke. But, I also have info that he married Carrie J. Hardy bn 1900 and the d/o Charles and Mary E. Hardy. They had a daughter named Emogene who was bn in March of 1922. I do not know if Wilke could be a married name for Carrie and Hardy her maiden name. I believe I got the Wilke name from the Dibean marriage database for Michigan. James in laws were T.B. and Jane Coon. I do not know why, but I do not seem to have his wife's name. I don't even know, right off hand, who gave me that info. Unless it was from Dee Puffer.
Hope this helps.
June
