Hi Barb,
Well it looks as though we are related! My grtgrtgrandfather was John Wesley Puffer. The Nutt book lists him as Wesley. He was indeed killed in the Civil War in the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky. I have only found the information out about North Crosby, Leeds County, about two weeks ago. It was then I received information from the NAtional Archives in Washington, D.C. John's wife, Margaret(Marietta) had a hard time getting a pension for the three children that were left behind. She had to get proof of her marriage but had trouble getting it because the minister who married them had left the country. She got a letter from a Stephen Goodle, of North Crosby, stating that he was well aquainted with John and Margaret who both resided in the township of North Crosby before marriage and were married near Westport. Their was also a george Cornell and Chauncey Cornell of Kingston who say they were at the wedding. MArietta's maiden name was Cornell.
I know that Asa was married three times. John's mother was Mary BArnes from Ohio.
I don't know anything on the Agnew family as I am concentrating right now on the Puffer family.
So John and Isaac were half brothers. Would like to keep in touchand share other info if you want. You can contact me at
