Hi everyone! Glad to see someone finally put a message board up for those of us researching this line!

I'd be interested in sharing whatever information I have on the Puffenbarger family. Please look at my website which Darla was kind enough to post earlier.

Please write if you would like to share information with me. I'd like to make my database as complete as I can. I will not post information on living people.

Best regards,
Carol

Not sure exactly where from, Dad said something regarding Staunton/Lexington?? His father was Eddie Linwood b.1889/d.1953 - and his father was Herbert. Dad says we are connected to the Puffenbargers in Highland County, but I can't remember how so. He says that some of our family is buried in the family cemetery in W.Va. Do you know where this cemetery is located? I guess I really need to talk with my aunt, she knows more about it all.

Carol, Staunton is in Augusta County, Virginia. Lexington is 33 miles from Staunton further south. I don't have your Herbert Puffenbarger or an Eddie Linwood Puffenbarger. I have a genealogy report at my website on the Pfaffenberger family. I only go as far as about 1900 because quite a few family members born between 1900-1920 are still living.

I have photocopies of death/cemetery records from Pendleton County, West Virginia's Historical Society. Those were sent to me by my friend Darla Puffenbarger Whitley.

Dad told me the wrong name...wasn't thinking I guess. Seems his grandfather was James Puffenbarger who married a Fannie Frances (LNU). His dad (my grandfather) was born in 1889. Will keep browsing through your work, which I might add has been quite a bit of work done lady!! Keep up the good work.

Carol:
I have been researching the family for many years, I am a descendent of the 1733 family (8)eight generations removed. My database is quite large, which is "surname spouses only". However, indictive of the defined task, I have several pages of unidentified "surnamed" family groups.

Recently I was directed to your site, interestingly our records tracked very well until I got to John Jacob 10/24/1769 - 1845 Magdalina Schlosser. The records for the children don't match at all.

Needless to say I will gladly share information on this and other P's

Source: A Genealogy of the Schlosser, Slusser Clusher Families of America, 1605-1994; published privately by Patricia Shaffer Frappier, Kettering, Ohio.

Information from Ms. Frappier's book was sent to me by Otis Slusher, Ruth P Thompson, Jean P Gilbert, and Roger Cramer.

My research is primarily with the Puffenbarger family which left PA for VA in the late 1780s.

I hope this helps. If you would like to contact the above researchers I list I will gladly forward an email to them for you.

Carol:

I have reviewed and used a lot of your posted information on the "P" family to help purify my data, thanks.

Now here is one I don't know a lot about even though he was my gg grandfather

Needless to say, I would appreciate any help:
1st, do you know what his middle name was?
2nd, do you know exact birth death dates?
3rd, William had at least three wives,(1)may have been Mary Fink,(2)was Mary Elizabeth Harris and (3)was according to my records Rebecca Johnson, who married him on 10/15/1855. After three children they divorced. Their son Stephan Arthur Douglas Poffenberger was my g grandfather.

Any information on Rebecca Johnson would also be helpful, since in my 30+ year quest, since I have found nothing on her.

Thanks,
