"Henry Puerner, 79, Jefferson Resident, Dies:
Jefferson - (Special) - Henry Puerner, 79, a resident of Jefferson all his life and widely known in this section, died early this morning at his home at 602 Fourth street. He had been in failing health since last fall.
He was born in Jefferson in November, 1856, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Puerner, who came to Jefferson from Germany in 1850. On May 13, 1879, he married the former Miss Adelia Kieson.
For many years Mr. Puerner ran a blacksmith shop here. Thirty-five years ago he suffered a stroke and since that time he has no been active.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Jessie, who is employed here at the Famers and Merchants bank, Mrs. Roy Freidel of Jefferson and Mrs. Joseph Meade of Madison; two sons, Fred of Minneapolis, Minn. and Henry Jr., Madison: three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Straw of West Allis, Mrs. William Thiel of Janesvile and Mrs. Martha Heitz of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and two brothers, Marin of Jefferson and John of Warren, Ohio. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Loetz died on February 14 of this year.
Funeral services wil be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clocl at the Hidebrant Funeral home, with the Rev. O. Kuhlow, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery."
