Hello, I am aware that there are many families with the name Puente. My name is Lorraine Puente, daughter of Felix Domingo Puente, granddaughter of Felix Domingo Puente, I know my father had two brothers Hime and Pedro Puente and my great grandfather came from Spain to work in Puerto Rico ran the main sugar cane company there that company was owned by a Very Rich Spainard who came to puetro rico to do busniess. My father was in airforce in WWII and my greatgrand father was in the navy in WW1. I also have an uncle by the name of Jose Puente which we found after my father passed.

Hello Marilo

I'm sorry that I haven't responded sooner but I was in the hospital. It was great to hear from a relative and many thanks for the compliment about my work on the family. I don't know if you saw the information I have on my website about Angela Guerra Teja but I do have some and have attached an ancestor report for her. Angela is my great grandmother and Esperanza is my great aunt.

From which child do you descend? Rufino, Esperanza, Rafael, Jose Antonio, Alfredo, or Manuel? I would be interested in your ancestry if you care to share it with me.

I have a couple of pictures of Esperanza if you would care to have a copy. Also if you have any pictures of anyone in the family I would appreciate having a copy. My email address is paulpuente@gmail.com.

I plan sometime later this year to do additional research on the Guerra side of the family. Also, if you were visiting my website you probably saw that I have traced the ancestors of my great grandfather, Rufino Maria Añorga Lecuna back to the early 1600s in Guipuzcoa, Pais Vasco.

Many thanks for contacting me.

I decided to send you the two pictures I have of Esperanza. In the first picture, her husband, Rafael Izquierdo Sanudo on the left, then comes Modesta Aurora Esperanza Añorga Guerra, to her right is her brother, Manuel Añorga Guerra, and then finally on the right is my grandmother, Gumersinda Añorga Guerra. The picture was taken in my grandparents' house in Hoznayo.

The second picture is of Esperanza as a young woman.

I don't know if you are still following this thread, but I did contact a genealogist last year who did some work for me and I now have the ancestry of my grandfather, Natalio José Puente Blanco that I posted about 2 years ago. His father was Gabino Pablo Puente Niño, b. 27 Oct 1832 and his mother was Trinidad Baleriana Blanco Solar, b. 09 Apr 1841. I have their ancestors back a further 4 generations to the early 1700s, thanks to the baptismal records of the Catholic Church.

There was no Pedro Puente or Carmen Diego in any of the records so I don't think we are talking about the same Puente family. It is not an uncommon name in the province of Cantabria. All of my Puente ancestors were from the small villages (Omoño, Anero, Termino, etc.) in Ribamontan Al Monte, Santander Province of Cantabria, but none of them were born in the city of Santander nor did they live there.

All the best

Paul

Hello Lorraine

I don't think we have a connection but I have decided to post the ancestry of my grandfather, Natalio José Puente Blanco anyhow and it may help future Puente researchers. See attached.

Good luck with your search

Paul
