Surnames: Puddister/Stamp/Martin/Power
I know there is a connection with the Puddisters. Stephen Puddister my great grandfather was born in St. John's, and baptized at the Basilica. His father was Thomas Puddister who married Elizabeth Power on 2 August 1843. Stepehen married Margaret Mary Stamp and their daughter Sarah Joseph was my grandmother. Other children in their family were John, James, Richard, Vera, Martha Jane, Mary Anne to mention a few. They lived in the downtown area of St. John's mostly the east end. I have addresses of 8 Howe Street, 10 Quidi Vidi Road, 1 Hunts Lane, and Kickman's Lane. I know that Thomas came from Northern Bay/Grates Cove as well. Would love to check it out. Always, Sarah

Hi Sarah,
The Puddister line I am researching is the following:

1. John King married Marion Puddister and they lived in Broad Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. They had daughter, Gladis King in Dec. of 1901 in Chelsea, MA. Marion Puddister may possibly have had the middle name of Hollet.
Unfortunately, that's all of the information that I have to work with at present. Can you help me at all? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello Jean: in response to your querry, I know the name Hollett, in fact my Great Aunt Martha Jane Puddister married a Hollett, they lived in St. John's. However that is not to say that we are not connected. You see, as far as I understand, and from the research I have done it appears that all the Puddisters/Puddesters, Poingdextre in Newfoundland are decended from Henri Poingdextre. I think Martt Mully, a fellow from out that way is doing research on the Puddisters of Newfoundland may be able to assist you. I think his email address is mattmullay@home.com. Also there is a Jane Puddister also who has much informaition about those lines. I will find and send you her address. Good luck, Always, Sarah.
