I am seeking information on the PUDDISTER family. The earliest I have is STEPHEN PUDDISTER, born 1700-1800. He lived in Broad Cove, Conception Bay, Newfoundland. I am told that his parents came from Jersey, Channel Islands in the early 1700-1800. I would like to know their names, and when they really arrived in Newfoundland. Thank you for any information. STEPHEN PUDDISTER married MARY HYDE in Newfoundland. They are my +++grandparents.

Looking for information on the family of Stephen Puddister was born on 23 February 1855; and he married Margaret Mary Stamp at the Basilica of St. John Baptist on April 3, 1883. Their children were Vera, Sarah, Mary, John, James, Richard, Martha Jane,
Sarah Puddister married George Nicholls on 23 December 1911 at the Basilica of St. John Baptist in St. John's.
I think my gggrandfather was Thomas Puddister who married Eliazabeth Power, according to vital statistics on 2 August 1843. Their sponsors were Philip Janes and James Hill. Anyone being able to make the connection, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Just came across these posting on the Puddister name. I'm a descendant of a Francis Puddister born in Northern Bay NL. He married a Mary Anna Norris from Grates Coves and moved to St. John's around 1900. Do you think there is a connection here?

The information I have is as follows: Sarah Joseph Puddister was born 30 Sep 1885 and died 4th Mar 1957. She married Goerge Nicholls Martin on 23 Dec 1911. Her father was Stephen Puddister born 23 Feb 1855 and married Margaret Mary Stamp on April 3, 1883 in the Basilica of St. John The Baptist St. John's NL. Stephen's Father was, I think, was Thomas Puddister and his mother was Elizabeth Power. Aside from Stephen, I think they had children named Ches, Jack, Sarah, and there were others.
Stephen and Margaret's childlren are: Martha Jane who married Benjamin Allen a Scotsman; John, James, Vera (died as a teenager), Mary Anne whom I think married a Jack McCarthy( a railwayman and moved to the mainland); Richard who married Mary Elizabeth Fifield. They had one son Stanley who married Mary Benoit and they have, perhaps the largest family of PUddisters in St. John's/Torbay area.
Sarah Puddister and George Martin had the following children: Bridget, John, Ronald, Willliam, Rita, Margaret, Genieve Elizabeth, and Mary Anne and my mother Ellen Mary.
I hope this can give you a better insight. Thanks for looking. Always, Sarah

Hello Larry: I have come up with the name of my Stephen Puddister's parents. they were Thomas and Elizabeth Power. And I have found all the children of my Stephen Puddister, some of whom are living in Ontario. Your mother told me a story of a Puddister one of you ran into in Ontario......well I have discoved it was the son of my great uncles Jack Puddister who moved to Ontario with the Railway. he had married a nurse, of french decent, whom he met and married in Nova Scotia. I have found that whole family now. Any way any leads of Stephen or Thomas would be much appreciated. By the way Stephen's god parents are lister as Martin Vicars and Eleanor Harrington. Sound familiar???? Always, Sarah.

Mary Ann Puddister was my great-grandmother. She was married first to Martin Vickers who died in 1888 and then to my great grandfather. I believe his first name was Benjamin. My grandfather was Michael Carew.
