Don't think I can help but wanted you to know that many Puddifoot lines go back to Ricksmansworth. I'm looking for a Martin Puddifoot - do let me know if you find anything.

I'm tracing back on this line and have records for :
Thomas Puddifoot b1890
Martin Puddephatt b1859
Daniel Puddephatt b1829 (father: Richard Puddephatt)

Largely based around Chesham/Rickmansworth before moving into London around the 1880s.

Thanx for the info but i'm not sure if this is of any help to me as i cannot get passed Joseph at the moment. His father may have been James but it is very difficult to read his marriage certificate. If these names do crop up i'll be in contact again.

Thanx again
Gail

Thanks for the reply.

If it helps, I have also looked at Jesse Puddifoot (married to Emma Cook) and their son George Puddifoot after going down the wrong track.

In the late 1800s they were living in the Battersea area of London. As it happens, Jesse is the brother of Daniel (my line).

I still don't know if these have any connection to my line.
Have you got anybody from the Croxley Green area of Middlesex? that's where Joseph was born in 1858/59.
His father was deceased in 1887 when he married.
If you look on the 1901 census you will find some others born in the area who my be his family.Maybe some of those names may be in you line?
Thanx
gail

The Search for Joseph's Parents
Thomas Howard & Ann Puddephatt?
I believe, but cannot yet prove, that Thomas Howard & Ann Puddephatt were Joseph's parents.
They married 22 July 1808.
They lived in what is now Leverstock Green, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

They had a child, John Howard b. 25 January 1809; he married Elizabeth Deacon 20 September 1830.

One of the witnesses at John & Elizabeth's marriage was Thomas Pryer - who was also a witness at the marriage of Joseph Howard & Sophia Hall.

An Ann Puddephatt was present at the death of Joseph & Sophia's child, Goodwin Spire, who died in infancy.
This may have been Thomas's wife, who may have therefore been Joseph's grandmother.

Thanks for your message which I have only just picked up! I'm looking more closely at the family of Daniel Puddephatt (b 1829/1830) and in particular his son Martin (b 2/2/1859). Do let me know if you have any other info.

Thanks.

Patrick.
