Cousin Stan - Yes I have information! Our Great Grandfathers were brothers. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. John Puddicombe was born March 1851 - he is listed as a male called "Infant" in the 1851 census (which took place in April). His older sisters Emma & Mary are also listed. There were many more children later, including my great grandfather Robert (born 1860). Their parents were Robert Puddicombe (b 1818) and Jane Lovering (b 1823 or 4). I have a wedding photo of your John & Mary, just before they left on honeymoon to Rockford, Illinois where they settled. How much information have you got? (And how much do you want?). Clare

Hello

I'm interested in your Mary Ann Rodd who married John Puddicombe in 1870

Would you know any more about her i.e. year and place of birth, parents, etc.? If you don't have this information perhaps I can help you.

My name before marriage was Rodd and I actually live only about five miles from Westleigh in the adjacent parish of Fremington.

I am trying to create a database of Rodds and wish to find out what what happened to them all in later life. I have approximately 1300 Rodds on the database at the moment, most born in Devon or Cornwall. I would apprciate if you could give me this info to add a little more to my database.

Best wishes

Kim and Diane,
Im looking for info on a Caroline Puddicombe from Midland Ont.(My g-grandmother) She married (?) McPeake in around 1900. She would have been born about 1880. She was probably born in Midland or possibly on the east coast. I have very little info on her so anything would be much appreciated. Hey we could be cousins too!

Hi Sue,

I was wondering if I could run "our Rodd" past you? His name was William, and he was sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia for stealing a coat worth 30s. from a London gentleman in April 1816. He was 19 years old at the time. Ironically, both his birthplace and destination were Launceston - Cornwall and Tasmania, that is. His parents were listed at his death as Edward and Mary. If you have any info I would be very grateful, and I can of course furnish details of his life and family in Australia of you would like to add that to your tree.

Regards,
Allison.

Mary Ann Rodd was a cousin. John and Mary Ann moved to Rockford, IL in 1872. My great-great Aunt was about the same age as Mary Ann Rodd when she (Lucy Rodd of America) visited England in 1870. Lucy kept a detailed journal of this trip and Mary Ann and her family was the first family they visited in England. This journal give a detail description of Mary Ann and her family. This journal is now for sale by my family. Please email if interested sharing information or in purchasing this book.
