Puccio / D'Alessandro in Louisiana

Puccio / D'Alessandro in Louisiana

I am trying to trace my family back to Palermo. My great grandmother Marianne Puccio was an only child. Both she and her father (Salvatore) came to Louisiana. Both died in New Orleans. My great grandfather Guiseppe, was one of 16 or so children. He had one sister here in New Orleans, Angelina. Any help as to where to begin, or what I need to find to get started, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sandra

Hello Sandra - I am related to a Giuseppe Puccio that married a D"Alessandro in New York City and had 11 children. I know that Giuseppe was from Castelvetrano and followed his love to America, she came here first. How is your Puccio tied to D'Aessandro??

My Puccio is Marianna Puccio, daughter of Salvatore Puccio. I know they were from some place in Palermo. Marianna married Giuseppe D'Alessandro and had 6 children. They lived on Royal St. in New Orleans. The oldest of the children is Lena. Who was named after her grandmother, Angelina. Do you have any Puccio or D'Alessandro family that relocated to Louisiana?

Thank you,
Sandra

Not to my knowledge has anyone ventured too far away from New York/New Jersey, but that doesn't mean much as this is the family tree that I am most trying to research. However, the one part that I cannot connect with is the Palermo residence. Could it be possible that your Puccio/D'Alessandro link left for American from Palermo but may have been from the other side of Sicily? Could they have been from Castelvetrano?

Yes, it could be possible. My great great grandfather Salvatore Puccio did come through New York at one time. I have a copy of Salvatore Puccio and Giuseppe's passports. I know they sailed from Palermo. You are the first person to suggest they may have come from another part of Sicily. I always just accepted they came from Palermo. Have you been able to connect with any Puccio's in Castelvetrano?
