Re: Looking for relatives Puccio/ Darch
Hi,
I am Allen Puccio's daughter. I believe that my cousin Darla may have sent the message about our grandparents and her father. I don't have a lot of information, but do have their old pictures. I am also interested in finding out more about our grandparents and their families.
If she is interested, she can contact me at the above e-mail.

Re: Looking for relatives Puccio/ Darch
I have a lot of information that can help you! My relatives came from Botricello, Italy to Rome, NY. I had the opportunity to travel to Botricello and meet 12 Puccio cousins last Sept. We are staying in touch via Facebook. I found them by looking up Puccio in Botricello! My husband and I are going to Italy again in March with his Study Abroad program from the University he teaches at. One of the cousins has a son is an anesthesiologist in Bologna,Italy and he wants to meet me while I am in Italy. while I was in Botricello with my husband, my cousins took me to their homes, and we took pictures. The brought pictures off their walls of the relatives that came to Rome, NY and returned to Botricello. My Dad (age 90)knew those cousins when they were in Rome, NY. I had the time of my life. From not really knowing they would meet me at the B&B to being blown away seeing them there with big pictures of my relatives. The next day they took me to the beach...Ionian Sea, The St. Michael the Archangel church, the bakeries they own, and the Mausoleums. I have gotten my cousins to go to the records in Botricello and find my Great Great Grandparents and their children.....which would include my Great Grandfather!! I know I have one relative who settled in Buffalo, NY. I have his name and the name of his wife. I'm still working on this. Plus, I have 2 Puccios in the Rome,NY Cemetery to figure out. Do you think we are related? What information do you have?

Re: Looking for relatives Puccio/ Darch
Greetings from California. I was married to Allen Joseph Puccio with whom I have a son named Michael. Al's father was Robert Puccio who married Ruth Darch and had two sons: Benjamin and Allen. His sister visited years ago and I think her name was Rose. I know his father came from Italy, got settled, returned to Italy and brought his wife here. Bob had several siblings. He often spoke of "Roberto Ignacio Gasperino". I'm not sure if this was an uncle with one name or if it was several relatives. The only remaining descendants of Bob and Ruth are my son and two siblings from Al's first marriage.
If any of this information rings a bell, please let me know. Donna

Re: Looking for relatives Puccio/ Darch
Dear Donna,
I have several questions that will help you in your search.
Where and when did Robert get married? When you look up the records, court house or church, you can find out what Robert's parents names are. Ask everyone who is still living who the other siblings are and where did the Puccios live in Italy. Go to the Ellis Island website and search for Roberto Puccio. That is if he came to the US through NY. If he had Roberto Ignacio Gasperino as a sponsor, his name would be on the manifest, along with how much money Puccio had, his color of eyes and hair, when and where the he boarded the ship. Join Pie and or Pointer. These are Italian free ancestry search programs designed to help. They are set up where you email a question a member or several members will reply. They have helped me tremendously. Example...I knew my Great Grandmother Catherina Puccio came here after my Great Grandfather died and after she remarried Rubino. I was told to look her up by her maiden name and use Maria for the first name because women were named Maria and went by their baptism names, and when women traveled they used their maiden names. Therefore, I looked up Catherina Puccio as Maria Lagrotteria! Bingo! I found she was going to see Rubino with her 2 children my Grandfather and Great Aunt who were 12 and 9 at the time. I wasn't able to go any farther because I need to get the micro film from the LDS library. Several years later.....I ordered the films and I am having a difficult time reading and making out the hand written documents. I am lucky to have a lady who is a member of the LDS help me. She majored in Italian, speaks Italian and found her family in Italy. My biggest break through was when I used Facebook and put Puccio and the city my father said his father came from! I look forward to your reply. I hope I have given you some direction in you ancestry research. Pam Puccio Selden
When did Robert Puccio come to the US? Port of entry is important also. It helps if you have the year he came when looking him up on the Ship Manifest.

Re: Looking for relatives Puccio/ Darch
Pam,Bob, Ruth and both sons are deceased. We have lost all contact with the Puccio's. I think Bob was born in Philadelphia and Ruth in North Dakota. Both boys were born either in Philadelphia or New Jersey. I don't know Bob's parents names, so I need to find their names first. Also,I know Bob wasn't the eldest son, so hit this big wall. My son has no contact with any Puccio's, so I would love to give him this gift of information on his roots.
I'll keep pluging away. Thanks for your help, Donna
