I'd be interested in any info you have on the Ptomey family, especially Nelson. He traveled with my gggrandfather Moses Ptomey.

Nelson PTOMEY appears as an early citizen of Virginia City, Madison Co., MT in June 1863 time frame in the Thomas Dimsdale serial report, "The Vigilanties of Montana or Popular Justice of the Rocky Montains."
In a Virginia City, MT historical district visitor guide, one building is marked as the location of the McCLURG and PTORNEY (or posssibly PTOMEY) Mercantile store. John E. McCLURG is known to be an early merchant in Virginia City in June 1863, a few days after the news of the gold strike became widespread. Less is know of the realtionship with any partners in the mercantile establishment. Can any one lend additional infomation?

Nyla, you said that Nelson traveled with your gggrandfather, Moses. To where did they travel? Is he the Nelson Ptomey who went to Montana in the 1860s? I just ran across the following site when I did a search on Nelson: www.mineratec.com/pioneers.htm
Have I ever corresponded with you other than the brief posting I did here a couple of years ago?
