My grandfather's middle name was Ptolemy; he was born in Wentworth, Ontario in 1891. By any chance did any of your ancestors hook up with a Stevenson or a McMonies (both Scottish, both born in Ontario)? I've never been able to figure out why he had that middle name.

Surnames: Ptolemy McMonies
My Ontario-based Ptolemy ancestry includes McMonies, though I don't have the specifics handy. My father is Douglas Hall McMonies Ptolemy of Milton, ON, his father was Roger Hall Ptolemy, b. 1897 Stoney Creek, ON, his father William Hall Ptolemy. If you're still looking I could probably find out more.

Thanks for the info! Your great-grandmother, Mary Christine McMonies Ptolemy (married to William) and my great-grandmother, Helen Isabel McMonies Stevenson (married to William) were sisters.

I have your name in my McMonies family tree, sent to me by a Kemble cousin from Nebraska. Looks like you have two sisters and a brother, and are married to Joanna.

If you're interested in our shared ancestry, I can send you what I have. Feel free to contact me directly at V-Anne@chernockassociates.com.
