I have had contact with Robert Grieves(6th generation) son of Robert Webb PTOLEMY who lives in Colorado USA Is there anyone out there from this branch? I am looking forward to hearing from everyone. HI. We are just starting to do our ancestries. My husband is from the Alexander (Tolmie) Ptolemy branch. I am trying to connect ancestors with a picture I have of my husband's great grandfather; Robert Allen Ptolemy. I have come across the branch beginning with Alexander Tomie. From there we go to William Ptolemy and his wife Janet Stalker. They are my husband's great great great grandparents. There are portraits of each at my husband's grandparent's house.
Hope to hear from you! We are very eager to learn more about his ancestry!

Surnames: Tolmie, Ptolomey, Docherty, McDonald, Horn
It seems we are also distant relatives! My line starts with Alexander Tolmie + Agnes Gilcrest
son: William Ptolomey + Janet Stalker
son: James Ptolomey + Margaret Pritchard
and the line eventually goes down through 2 more James', a Margaret, a Jane and then to me! So it seems we are related a while back to William Tolmie/Ptolomey but now I'm living in Victoria, BC, Canada. I am wondering if you know anything about Mount Tolmie in Victoria; I heard it was named after a Tolmie from Inverness (Alexanders grandpa was from Inverness) but I haven't been able to trace any direct ties between us. Direct any replys to yub_yub2000@hotmail.com not kenhornart.

My great grandfather by adoption was Percy Ptolemy, grandson of James Gillies. He was a veteran of WWI and suffered from exposure to mustard gas according to family stories. He married my great grandmother Verna Harrison (born Verna Coyle) and adopted my grandmother Margaret. He died in Seattle.
