Do the names Stanislaw, Alexandria, Helen or Walter sound familiar to anyone?
|
Yes, I had a great aunt named Helen Ptaszek married to a man by the last name of Piechocki. She was born in 1896. But sorry none of the other names match. Thanks for your reply. Joyce

What are some of the changes in the name Ptaszek? What part of Poland did your family come from? I am looking for my family lineage and I have so little to go on. We use the name Paget currently; however, this is the American version. Thank you for your time.

I don't believe your spelling is for the same name. Ptaszek is pronounced ta - shek. Not even close to how you spell yours. This family name came from Kolaczyce. South central Poland. It's not too come a name there anymore.

Do you have any idea how our name would be spelled in Poland? Paget, Pajdgik, or Pagick?? THese are the spellings I have been given. What letter of alphabet would give the P sound? Thank you
|
There is no letter that gives the P sound in Polish. Sorry. Sorry I can't help on the spellings.

Yes, Yes, I finally got my email. I was having trouble and now I can be reached at BarbH2002 instead of TremblingT. I can also be reached there but it is more trouble for me to try to get it. My Grandfather was a Stanislaw and I think there was a Helen and a Walter. The name Ptaszek in english is Bird (Byrd) so if you see any of these it very well could be a Ptaszek. My Grandmother was a Szczepanek and married Stanley around 1909 or 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. Let me know if this matches what you have. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I'm glad you wrote. Barbara

I agree with you on the pronunciation. I also think the area in Poland is the same. Where are you from? All our Ptaszeks were from Illinois.
|
Sorry, but I don't believe it's the same family.

All the Ptaszeks in my family were from Chicago. The St. Hedwig's Church area which is 2226 N. Hoyne.
