Re: relative of frank psenicka
I am wondering if the son Frank Psenicka is the person who married Antonetta Leska from Czech. They were from Cook County and had two sons Frank Jr and Stanley. The two sons moved to the midwest at some point. Thanks for any info. Anna

Re: relative of frank psenicka
oh YES! Frankisek the dad of them all was a master gardener. When the family was emmigrating, they had to work their way out of Bohemia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire via Vienna. Gus was born in Hungary while Frank was employed as one of the many gardeners on Franz Joseph's estates in Hungary.
In the states, they had green houses north of Chicago and sold flowers year round. Beautiful roses, carnations, violets, etc. Frank even developed a green carnation (not dyed). He and his brother had a falling out over that (selling the patents or some such) and never spoke to each other again.
I remember watching my grandpa in his backyard garden He'd look at a rose or rhododendron, cock his head to the side and decide it needed balance, He'd cut a bud and splice it where he wnted a branch to grow and it did! That family was magic with plants.
