Jim We have lots of Johns and Williams in our family. Do you know what area in Scotland John came from? Do you know his age or any other infoprmation? I am in contact with lots of cousins in Wales and Scotland as well as here in the states. Let me know if you have any other info. George Akin (gggrandson of another William Pryde)

I appreciate you message, George. The only DOB information I have is October 1841, Scotland. He immgrated to U.S. in 1860. He was on the 1900 Clearfield County, Houtzdale PA Census in 1900. He did not appear on the 1870/80 census records in Houtzdale. He was a merchant while living in Houtzdale. And that's all the personal data I have on him.
I've been in contact with Eve Pryde Roberts in Wales. She was unable to find any thing in her files.
Would appreciate any help you might be.
Have a beautiful day!
Jim :-)

My grandfathers name was James Robert Pryde and he had a brother John. James was from Michigan but I understand most of the family is from Scotland. James was the mayor of LaSale Peru, Il or something like that and broke his neck during the early part of his political career, in a diving accident. He married Dorothy Bickham (deceased) and they had 4 chilldren - Dorothy (deceased), Lois (deseased), Marjorie Ruth Pryde Jennings (living) and James Robert Pryde Jr.(living)

Paul Pryde was my grandfather. He was born Sept.5 1900 in Elgin, Il. He had a sister Lora 2 brothers Everett and Chester. It is believed that their father John Pryde was either born in or lived in Tatamagouche Nova Scotia. I was told by my mother that John had relatives in the Bar Harbor Maine area. John married Katherine Snyder when I am very unclear. John died in 1938. His wife passed away quite a few years before him. My mother said she believes that possibly the relatives on the east coast may have gone back to the original spelling of Pride. Do you know of anything or anyone that could help me?

as you can see my name is also pryde, i live in scotland, my father is george pryde, his father's name was william pryde. My grandfather came from a small village on the outskirts of glasgow, called Torrance, he is buried in Bishopbriggs on the edge of glasgow. My dad is almost 72 yrs old and came from a family of about 8 children, 2 girls and the rest boys, of which only 2 remain, my father and his older brother william (Bill). I know that my uncle has a son (Ian) who lives in germany, and he is married to a russian doctor, they have a son of about 15 or 16 yrs old. My sister tried to trace our family tree a few years back but had to give up, i'm very interested in meeting with other 'family' members, as i think that we are all related in some way. It's not a very common name in Scotland, especially with the 'y' in it and i'd love to hear about any other family members that you've been able to trace. Kind Regards Christina Pryde (Inglis)

I'd say that you live in the states, well my dad and i are coming to the states in about 2 weeks time. I hope this will be the begining of a nice friendship, us Pryde's are known for being friendly.
