I was browsing this sight and realized there were no Pruchas on the message board. My husband comes from the Pruchas in Nebraska, specifically Crete. Let me know if you are any relation.

There our lots of Pruchas out there.
My family came from Bohemia in 1800's
But for a short time settled in Lincoln,
Nebraska. There were eight or so children
most moved to Oklahoma but some stayed in Nebraska.
My great-great grandfather was named Vaclav. Any relation?

Jennifer-

My father-in-law tells me that his father's uncle was named Vaclav and lived in Wilber, NE I would say in the early 1900's. Must be some relation wouldn't you say?

Vaclav wouldn't seem like a very common name to
me. Especially Vaclav Prucha! This has got to
be relation. Vaclav would never speak of his
past or of his family. Family rumours say he
and his brothers had a feud in Nebraska, that
resulted in him coming to Oklahoma. His wife
was named Ema, they had four kids that settled
here and possibly some that stayed in Nebraska.

My father-in-law tells me that his father lived with his uncle (Vaclav)from 8th through 12th grade. This uncle Vaclav never had any children. Could our uncle Vaclav be a son or grandson of your Vaclav?

It's possible he is a son. It seems to be
a bohemian custom to name a son for the father.
So it very very likely. I have an old picture
of Vaclav taken in the Early 1920's.
He was tall with dark skin, reddish hair, and
blue eyes. Very striking. Does the desription
sound familar?

Hello Jill Jennifer,
I wanted to see if there is any change that my great-grandfather Joseph Prucha b. 4/8/1866 in Bohemia d.1/9/1928 Omaha NE could be a brother to your Vaclav? Please feel free to email me :-)

I really could not tell you for sure if
he was a brother or not.At least of the Vaclav
I know of. My family has said that he
was extremely quiet about his family.
Please contact me if you think I could be
any help at all.
