Surnames: Pruce, Smyth, Reeves
This name seems to be very rare, so anyone who has a Pruce, please post and surely you will find some matches.

I have a John Pruce buried with his wife Mary Jane Smyth at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Healthy, Hamilton County, Ohio. John lived from 1835-1915 according to his headstone. But we found a death certificate stating a John Pruce died in Lucas Co., Ohio December 6, 1914. I don't know if that is the same person or not. His wife Mary lived from 1843-1900. Her mother was also named Mary Jane, but nobody knows what her maiden name was. She also had a little brother Henry Chambers Smyth (1848-1928) who married Olive Malvina Reeves (1850-1923). All of the above are buried at Mt Pleasant.
I found a John Pruce in the 1830 Ohio census living in Hamilton Co. This may very well be my John Pruce's father, but I have yet to confirm this.
Mainly, I'm hoping there are descendants of John Pruce out there that can help me find out who Mary and Henry's father was.
Good luck to all the Pruce researchers out there!

I don't know if we are related, but my father's name is also John Pruce. My dad is the youngest of his generation and one of two still alive from eight. He grew up north of Sault Ste. Marie on a farm in Goulais River. I have become interested in the geneology of my family and would appreciate any info on our roots. My father tells me that his father (Steve) moved to Canada from the Austria area sometime in the early 1900's

Interesting. Do you have any family or ancestors that lived in Ohio? It is possible that my John Pruce and your grandfather, Steve are brothers? Do you know who your grandfather's siblings are? If not, maybe they are cousins. I would like to find out more.

I wish I could tell you more...My dad's dad (Steve) married a Katie Karabolski(not sure of spelling), and they came from a place called Galisea (again not sure of spelling) somewhere near Vienna. Unfortunately, that is all the information that I have at this time. I plan to continue my efforts if I can ever find the time. Good luck in your search,
Regards,

My name is David Pruce. My father is James Pruce. My grandfather was Carl Pruce. All including myself are from Ohio. I have no information past my grandfather because my father had no relationship with his grandparents. to my knowledge there are a total of ten Pruce's in northeast Ohio still living. All are my immidiate family or relatives. I have always been very curious about our family history but have very little to work with.

Hi
I have been researching the Pruce name in England for some twenty years or more. I recently found a John Pruce in the British army whom I had not encountered before. I traced him back to a village in Gloucestershire, England but then realised that I could not account for his father or any of his siblings. They were there in the early 1860's but could not be found in the 1871 and 1881 census returns. He was in fact in a place called Menden in New York in 1880 with his father and siblings. His older brother Frederick had however migrated to Ohio. Precinct B, Toledo, Lucas, Ohio the census ref 1255043. T9-1043.411B. Frederick's youngest son John (age 3 in 1880) was born in Ohio. Could this be your man buried in 1914?
Regards
John Pruce
