I am setting forth what I THINK is probably the family of Alice Pleasants w/o Silvester Proffitt. Some think she was the d/o Jane Tucker (widow of Capt. Samuel Tucker) who married John Pleasants. John was born 1645 in Norwich, England and he died 1698 in Henrico Cty.Va. I think I posted much of this information back in 2003. I have the COMPLETE history of his family back in England. Since Alice was probably born c1705 and John, Sr. died 1698 she could not be his daughter.

He was the only Pleasant to come over to the U.S. and he had three children: John who married Dorothy Cary, d/o Thomas; Joseph who married Martha Cocke, d/o Richard,Sr in 1708 and a daughter Elizabeth who married James Cocke. Since Alice was born c 1705 she had to be the d/o John and Dorothy Cary (if she was a Pleasants, and I now think she was)
John Sr. history proves that he had an ancestor Alyce Pleasants the wife of William Pleasants. They married 1-22-1573 at St. Pauls Norwich, England (all of his ancestors are listed as being from Norwich, England.) They had a daughter Alice born 2-05-1579. That is where the name Alice comes from.
I believe I posted the history of Duel Thurston a week or so ago. I believe him to be the s/o Edward Thurston and Elizabeth Housden. Edward Thurston/Thruston....same person...married two times #1 to Anne Loveing in 1666 and #2 to Susanna Perry on 9-03-1671. Edward Thurston's son John was born 12-02-1668 and married 9-23-1690 to Ellinor CARY widow of JOHN CARY. This ties him into Duel Thurston who married Judith Moseley c1734 and had a daughter Sarah Thurston who married William Profit.

To connect the Pleasant family to the Proffit family is easy. I have never checked out any of the Pleasant Proffitts but there seems to be many of them. I think that in itself would connect them to the Pleasants family. I believe Alice Pleasants/Plaisance to have been the wife of Silvester Profit. The families: Cary, Thurston, Proffitt, Moseleys etc. seem to be connected. Sometimes when I transfer my worksheet to the computer I do pick up the wrong people....I attribute it to my age.
