Hi, I have been able to trace my maternal line back 6 generations to Charles Probert and Mary Moubray (sic). The "Lady" title was a suprise though. If this is of interest please contact me. Regards Philip Probert Harper

I am not too sure whether the attachment will be successful, as I had to change it to a JPEG.

Thanks Judith, this looks great. I am a decendant of Philip Probert (born 1810). I am currently at my daughters and when I return home will send you the tree I have. My maternal grandmother was Sarah Hood Probert. She had a son and daughter (my mum). Her son died before my birth so Philip Probert was passed on to me. I had no idea of the history of the name. My only son is a John Philip. I will be intouch next week. Regards Phil Harper

Hi Judith sorry for the delay. If not of significance to your search I hope this at least fills in some gaps in the families history. Thanks once again for you information you have supplied. Regards Phil Harper

Our PROBERT family line in the US we've traced back to Scotland. Can anyone please HELP(!) us verify our conjecture that our Alexander PROBERT (wife Esther) is quite possibly the Alexander PROBERT b. 17 Jan. 1808 to Isabel MOWBRAY/MOUBRAY m. William PROBERT in Scotland?

"Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTKZ-6G9 : accessed 23 Apr 2014), Alexander Probert, 17 Jan 1808; citing , reference 2:16GQZXP; FHL microfilm 1041400."

In the 1871 Scotland census Alexander & Esther were age 63 residing in Greenock, Middle Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
In 1841 English census they resided in West Riding, Brandford, West Yorkshire, England w/ son Philip PROBERTage 8.

On 25 Dec 1852 Philip m. Elizabeth SMITH @ St.Thomas in Dudley, Worcester, England, where son William Alexander PROBERT was b. 4 Aug 1853.
In the 1880 Allegheney (Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania, USA census, Philip resided w/ wife Elizabeth & four PROBERT children: William Alexander, Philip Sherdain, Andrew McDonald, & Esther.
Iron forgework was the mens' occupation for these 3 generations & the next 3 as well!
Any assistance verifying this family's history is greatly appreciated :)
