I'm interested in tracing the Irish Primrose family name back to Scotland - if that is possible!
I have a JOHN PRIMROSE (1765-1840) who married Honoria O'CONNELL. This Primrose family were residents of Cahirciveen, Co. Kerry, Ireland. A son, John PRIMROSE, was born in Co. Kerry in 1796 and he married Ricarda O'CONNOR (1796-1848) in 1830. He died in 1865, leaving three children - Elizabeth (Betsie), born 1831; Philip, born 1833, died 1872 in Melbourne, Australia; Daniel O'Connell, born 1835 in Co. Kerry.

It has been suggested that the first John Primrose may have had a father called James Primrose who was related to a Gilbert Primrose from the Scottish Primrose (Rosebery) family. No evidence of this connection has been seen, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

I would be interested to hear from any Irish Primroses.
